Well, the minimum door height is 80 inches, or 6.666 feet. Let's assume that the designers wanted to accommodate larger customers, and built it to 7 feet. The top of the rook looks like it's 6 inches above the top of the door, so that sign is 7.5 feet off the ground. The sign looks about 4 inches tall, and 4 inches from the edge.

I think it's pretty obvious that the sign is only meant to be viewed from the side of the entrance, which is where you'd go if you wanted to use it.. Either way, the gag gets across, so- ᖍ(ツ)ᖌ

So, I clicked the random button for xkcd, immediatly opened another tab and went on the Wikipedia page for the comic. The first thing I read was that Richard Stallman was sent a katana, under the inspired activities section. Went back to the comic and guess which strip randomly appeared.
