How the hell did it manage to survive for so long?  :o
Schoolbooks from ~1850 or later remain incredibly common, to the point where there is very little collector's market for them. I generally see five or six in a day, most of which are rejected as not being worth selling, as nobody wants them.

Russia, Shonus, Russia. Or USSR, rather. The older textbooks might have been treated as... ideologically incompatible.

Ah. That hadn't occured to me, although I do get quite a few such books in Russian (unfortunately we do not sell any books in Russian, Greek, or most Asian languages because neither the employees or the computers comprehend the characters).

This Twitter. (relatively new)
Did they get hacked, is this a fake, or is Nature Valley seriously going Tumblr and dedicating its Twitter to anime screencaps?

They say that Nature Valley's PR just went all anime to win the hearts of anime fans around.

It's probably attracting more attention than pictures of national parks did, at any rate.

If I were a PR firm, that's how I would do it. Doesn't matter what you're selling, associate your brand with something really popular, and you'll sell a lot more of it. Sure, tv commercials and web ads are fine and good, but if, say, Purina started making doge ads, I guarantee they would get way more effective marketing for at least a third the cost of your average marketing campaign.

I don't even like granola bars, but the professor made me want one.

This is evil.

Yeah, it can work, or you can suddenly get a massive internet backlash.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

That's pretty deep emotion to be directed at granola.
