I've saved days (hours compounded) in typing fast. I challenge those who say there is no value to back it up. :I
Moreso when you've memorized the key positions and can just stare at the source material and type it out by reading the material..never looking at the keyboard.

Typing fast is only useful if you know what you're typing in full. I mostly stop to try to think of what I'm typing.

Just now my printer died, and I have to type things on my ye olde typewriter. So, my average-speed typing skills are already useful.

Yeah, yeah, but I don't have so much things to print, really. Fun fact, by the way - typewriter is rather new (80's-90's) and the ink tape is still fresh. It wasn't replaced since 1989.
