Capacitors can be dangerous, I'm fairly sure thats why you aren't supposed to open crts either.

You discharge a capacitor by poking at it with a screwdriver. Come on, everybody knows this.
Just make sure you use a screwdriver you don't like very much. I have seen many a screwdriver with the screw driving point melted into uselessness.

Well, maybe it's under warranty? If so you can't get a replacement one for free if you tinker with it (atleast that's how it is around here). If not and you have to buy a new one anyways, go ahead, tear that thing apart!

My computer is drunk.

I'm having that classic old problem of "The sound is only coming out of one headphone speaker", except if i unplug the headphones, hold the power button down to turn off the computer, plug the headphones back in while it is turned off and then turn it back on, the computer suddenly decides "WUH!, i suddenly have this new wonderful device i can use!" and abruptly stops being retarded.

Then, after a few hours, the right headphone speaker stops working again. WAT.

Sounds like the audio drivers are being stupid, try reinstalling them, if this the integrated audio then you are kinda screwed.
