Missiles also have a guidance system. Ballistics are considerably more difficult over such long distances.

If DEFCON has taught me anything, it's that you can solve any problem with intercontinental weapons by firing more of them at once.

We still have candy for the purpose of giving it away to kids. I'm surprised we didn't eat them all yet.
That misused plural pronoun just made my day. MISINTERPRETATIONS.

This is why language is so much fun. You can turn a harmless sentence into a casual admission of cannibalism with a single slight change to a word. xD

My Nanowrimo prospects is looking terrible if I can't even do basic grammar.

Total Annihilation has taught me that we'll eventually be able to build cannons that launch projectiles across the world with near-pinpoint accuracy (also named Big Bertha). What am I going to believe, the video game I played for countless hours as a child or some random guy on the internet?

Total Annihilation is best game! :D

Nah, that's what proofreaders are for. I've seen published authors that can't manage basic character development.  :P

On the other side of things, it's possible this is a casual admission of cannibalism. We just read it wrong.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm considering being an editor/proofreader. I'm pretty good at that kinda stuff. But I can't seem to write a decent story for shit. Writers don't need to have good grammar, just good ideas and at least a basic knowledge of how they wish to express those ideas.

I will never forget the day I saw that one guy. You see, it was a Diplomacy game that was rapidly collapsing, and I joined with the rump-original alliance along with the US (I was SA, making that easier). I was engaged in a fight  in the Atlantic, when Asia suddenly asked what the hell was happening. Turning over to the South China Sea; a single Fleet of 6 US submarines were launching, in perfect unison, neatly wiping out Asia's Silos/ABMs (Anti-balistic missile). He then proceeded to rain death on his undefended cities, before China's aircraft carriers finally got there and scared them off.

I couldn't get over how, perfect it was. Every single silo, 6 ABMs in one spot, and they simply could not take out enough missiles. Just perfectly synchronized nuclear death. God I miss that game, I wish I still hd it.

Remember my grievance about my secondary educational institution's lethargy regarding college applications? Well, it's gone from irritating to full-blown paranoia-inducing. I'm totally lost and hopeless about it now.

Dammit, you have two fucking days to do your part, recommender and counselor! Why do I need desperately overscheduled people outside my control to do shit for me? Who came up with this system?

More calmly, how can I firmly, but as politely as possible, urge both to get moving? Obviously they aren't obligated to do anything, especially on relatively short notice, but they have both given me their relatively firm word, and they have each done this too many times to claim ignorance. I hate to be that annoying person asking for help with stuff, but... I need this.

EDIT: So apparently the university in question has a rolling admissions system, November 1 is just the early action deadline. Even if I get it in a bit after, I can still beat a lot of the crowds. That's comforting news.

That has stopped very few Nanowrimo writers, from what I've seen :P

Not to, uh, worry you too much, but if the university you're applying to is anything like the colleges I've been in, well. Especially for more important (key pre-reqs, etc.) classes, it's not uncommon for the bloody things to be filled to the brim on day 1, depending on area of study. Sometimes within a couple hours of the courses opening. Doesn't necessarily mean you might not be able to get it anyway (people drop, etc.), but you might end up having to bug more advisors or whathaveyou in the process. Have 'em put you on notice or whatev'.

This isn't about enrollment in classes. This is just about applying, i.e. I am currently a senior in high school and am concerned about submitting applications in the first place.

I didn't feel like making an actual Games thread about this.

Batman: Arkham Origins is a bug-riven mess, and I highly encourage fans of the previous two games to wait a little while and see if WB Montreal will actually patch it.

I put this in the WTF thread, because not only is the game full of obvious problems that can be found by any one person with a few hours of playtesting, but it seems to spectacularly fuck up for each customer a little differently.  I won't even bother asking how you release a game that's clearly not in a playable state, that's just par for the course at this point.  I want to know how you can make a game that manages to randomly break in new and interesting ways when run the same each time.

Right now, I currently enjoying the "how many hours will Deathstroke stay unconscious for" feature.

On that note, WTF was somebody thinking trying to seriously pass off as a Batman-tier badguy, the schmuck DC handed over to be the arch-nemesis of the Teen Titans?  I can't take this guy seriously.

Shitty coding... plain and simple. Cases and decisions with too many inputs. Plus a healthy dose of random generation in bad places.

Is that because of his narcolepsy, or does he just suck at things?
