It is really, really fucking hot in the office tonight.  It feels like it's about 80F in here.  All the women are really happy about it.  All the men are not.  I have serious trouble staying awake when sitting around in temperatures like this.
Why is this?

Oh, shush. Down here we consider 25C to be room temperature and like it.

Though if it's also stuffy, yeah, I can see the problem.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I've heard various explanations, but it's almost universal in my experience that women always want temperatures to be at least 5-10 degrees (F) warmer than men do.  One of my female co-workers dons a thick parka, scarf, and hat just to walk to and from her car if it's less than 75F outside.  I've never known a single guy who would do that.  I've also noticed that women tend to claim they get drowsy when they're cold, while men tend to get drowsy when they're hot.  Temperature control has been a never-ending battle pretty clearly divided along gender lines the entire 7 years that I've worked here.

Well, I've always preferred it to be cold then hot, but that might not mean much.

That's about the point at which I start getting uncomfortable.  It won't bother me if I'm actively doing things so I'm not thinking about it, although I'll be sweating if moving around much at all.  When I'm mostly forced to sit still doing mind-numbing, repetitive work, it will really bother me and I'll get incredibly drowsy.

Above 85, I'm just plain hot.

Unless we are in sauna, in which 70-100 ºC is normal.

Definitely a fairly strong pattern I've noticed, there, down here in florida anyway. Always kind of wondered why... most of the dimorphic physiological stuff is fairly in line insofar as heat retention goes (at least in line enough that the difference shouldn't be quite so noticeable), so far as I can recall. My current theories is it's either fashion or grooming, thinner/less cloth or less body hair overall, but idle speculation is idle. Really should get around to hunting up any studies that have been done on the subject, one of these days.
