It might have been. It would have destroyed the forward compartiments, and then it depends on how the momentum impacted on the rest of the ship's. The most probable event is the complete destruction of the first 3 compartiments, which is stille fairly reasonable.

There are however several scenarios that would have allowed the Titanic to escape with survivable damage. As it is, the ship first turned away from the iceberg to make sure the ship could pass, then turned back towards it so that the back could pass. This caused the front to scrape past the iceberg. If it hadn't done that last maneuver, there might have been some engine damage, but the ship would have been mostly intact. Or, if the manoever wasn't succesfull, it would have caused the entire ship to scrape past the iceberg. (Latter being more probable)

After all, the poor riveting was only present on the ship's bow, as the machinery used to place it didn't fit inside, forcing the workers to do it by hand. Hence they decided to use iron rather than steel, because that was easier to handle. Sadly the added to much volcanic thingies*, causing the bolts to weaken further.

*I think that was what it was

I used to feel that way about a laotian boy I used to play games with.  Alot of pokemon back then, but everything from Magic cards to Need For Speed (back before the suck ps games).  Enjoy it: Most people who hate/annoy you have no reason to be there around you.

Yep. I just shut down for a moment and went into macabre humor mode. It's one of those things that just makes you sit there for a moment wondering if you actually just read it, because that is fucked up on a very basic level.

Apparantly my friend thinks that these lunatics doomsday preppers are cool. If the world is going to end to economical Russian nuke tsunami's anyway, then why not enjoy the time left?

Also, the chance of most of these world-ending events happening is so low. A hurricane or tsunami could happen, he said, I said that hurricanes form over warm water and that Brittain has Belgium covered pretty well. Tsunami's are created by earthquakes, and in we're in West-Europe. About the most natural-disaster-free place on Earth.

1. Doomsday preppers that go the whole way and create self sustaining biospheres are actually quite admirable - they know how to live entirely without money off of the fruits of their labour. Or rather, algae of their labour.
2. Normal flooding can mess up a whole lot of cities that sit by rivers ;-;

^^^ Aquaponics.  Takes thousands to initally set up, but with solar power and other setups (cuz it won't be sunny all the time) one can be pretty self sufficient.  I learned how to make coal as efficiently as possible about a month ago, for instance.  Cool stuff, not as obvious as it seems.

I think you're slowly warming up to him. You may never approve of his ways enough to be *friends*, but you know you can be together without trying to murder each other and that builds a modicum of trust.
