You know... with all the "Phobia" and "Anti" words being thrown around so much that they start to lose meaning... Sometimes you hear something like that and you wonder if they have a point.

Then I remember George Orwell and that his notions of word warefare is still used today and the fact that people are WAAAAY too lazy to decide for themselves.

We're not nearing some word doomsday. It's just a thing that people have done and still do. It's dumb but makes sense.

It's why silly people shouldn't be trying to get rid of the use of 'they' as a singular pronoun. It's gender-neutral, and it isn't as if we don't us 'you' for both singular and plural second person. It's also less awkward to use than newly (relatively speaking) invented pronouns like 'xe'.

I don't know, 'they' is pretty ingrained as the plural. I don't see why the masculine default is bad :/ It's gender neutral, just like the Romance language verb forms. It just happens that English's gender nouns atrophied.

Sleeping WTFs, hah. I'm still a little weirded out by a few days ago. For about four days straight, I woke up at noon. Regardless of when I went to sleep. Went to sleep at eight PM one day. Woke up at noon the next. Then at ten PM and midnight. Woke up at noon both times. Finally at five o'clock in the frakking morning. Still woke up at noon, the same day. It's stopped, now, but I was starting to get somewhat concerned.

My rule is that you assume any unknown gender is your gender. So girls would use She and I would use He.
