It's grammatically correct either way, even counting Equestria's dialect quirks. They use "pony" in place of "people" too, such as with "look at these ponies."

They are one of THOSE people, who think of themselves as things like "Gangsta" and "Ghetto". They think that Swag means "I am totally awesome! Anyone else who disagrees can just Suck It!"

Good. The harder they shout it, the more it shows they actually feel threatened by the intellectual. It's pretty understandable, really. If you're born with average or below intellect, your future does look bleakish, so you'd rather not think about it, and/or compensate with things that you can attain, such as +<<-swag->>+.
