Youtube keeps recommending me a 12 yr old arm wrestling competition video to me. I mean, it's relevant to ME SPECIFICALLY because my cousin participated in that competition. He's since gone on to become a crazed murderer, and I'd rather disown him from my life and forget about him... but this video keeps getting recommended to me, reminding me of him, even though I NEVER EVER watched an arm wrestling video besides this one.

I wonder if it's explicitly because they know he's your cousin.

Block the channel it's on from recommendations?

Just to clarify, my cousin is locked up in prison. He's not wandering about. He's set to be released in a about 20 years I think though, since the only charge they could stick him with was Intent to Murder, IIRC.

I had a really stupid moment at work over a really simple matter. I'm doing the taxes for a client in Washington with both Paid Family Leave and Medical Leave, but she's not issued a 1099-G for unemployment income, because the two incomes are intermingled in a legally incestuous way, such that one says the income is taxable, and the other states it is NOT taxable federally. This is what the State of Washington has to say on the matter:

Quote
Do I have to pay taxes on Paid Leave benefits?
We cannot give you tax advice.
The IRS has not given us guidance on the taxability of Paid Leave benefits in Washington. Based on what we’ve learned from other
states with similar programs, and what we’ve learned from people who have previously received Paid Leave benefits, you will likely
need to pay taxes on family leave benefits.
How you as an individual report this income for tax purposes is up to you and your tax professional. We cannot provide you with any
tax advice

Which is like, insane to hear from an official source. Like "oh we'll just let you figure it out!". For real man, it's like if you thought to yourself "Oh, is such-and-such illegal?" and then you looked it up and the only thing the government could think to say on the matter is "We can't tell you what to do with your life. Why don't you and your local police officer decide together what's legal and what's not?"

Realized today that the flavor I've associated with rye bread is actually caraway seed.

Didn't post here or really spend anytime at home yesterday because I spent most of the time at a hospital with the neighbor, it all started off fairly normal, had to take him into the hospital for some tests which all went well and we left, then we went to a restaurant where after we ate he had a really bad reaction to something from the procedure he had and we had to call an ambulance, then we go to a different hospital where we spend several with him being ether unresponsive or combative until they finally manage to knock him out, after which I felt like I could leave and got home around midnight, just gonna mention that this all started at 6AM.

Thankfully today he was doing better and was responsive, they still aren't really sure what happened but at least he's starting to come out of it.

For today's WTF, the wiki for Cataclysm DDA is gone:
Reddit Community Commentary: https://www.reddit.com/r/cataclysmdda/comments/1crug62/what_happened_to_cdda_wiki/

Another amazing source of information on this game, which sorely needs all the publicly available information that it can get, is gone.  :'(
They took it down awhile back, apparently that was a better idea to them than updating it.

Havent played since I stopped modding it.

I kind of want to, but I liked the tongue in cheek side of it, and Im not sure if thats gone.
As far as I'm aware most of it is gone but I'm sure there are bits and pieces left.

Not sure if I've ever seen it in the wild as anything but a joke: Reference to hand holding as sexual content in the wild. Part of a book review for a cozy mystery. It does exist, huh.

I don't think anyone has to pay Federal taxes this year.  Everyone over at the Treasury Department will be too busy fighting off Colonel Musk and his January 6th Offenders. Make America Great Again!by not making us pay taxes!

Youtube does in fact know that he's your cousin. When he shared links with you, and you clicked them, embedded in the URL is their profile. So Google has a nice easy link to say "This account shared a video to this account, which they clicked, so let me populate some of the things they watch into the feeds of people that know them."

My friend and I discovered this organically when he was describing a canned soup review channel (we watch the strangest things looking for distraction sometimes), something I'd never feel compelled to watch....and lo, suddenly I started getting canned soup review channels in my feed. And I don't think he actually sent me those videos, but we've shared videos plenty so the links were there.

He's since gone on to become a crazed murderer

This is, no joke, the 3rd instance today across all my forums where someone has said they knew an actual serial killer/murder IRL. The odds are spooky.

-edit-

Now 4 that people are starting to share their stories.

Doesn't seem that surprising to hear people know someone that has killed someone given how many people are murdered every year.
