Removed some posts here that spilled over from Ameripol.  There are years of post history involved and people seem unable to stop fighting.  The lock was not respected.  The mod sassing has also begun, which means that mutes are off the table, since they won't be effective.  I've banned everybody involved in the spill-over.

Damn. AmeriPol has been responsible for half the banlist, I reckon. End of an era, and one I think we might be better for. Hell knows I mostly just got mad when participating there.

For what it's worth, with max (the primary source of a good chunk of the political drama GD's seen for a while now) and hec (a self-admitted troll account, guy outright stated he's been stirring shit for fun) in particular gone, a lot of the potential friction just left the building. It'd probably be less trouble than it would have been.

Still... while ameripol of some sort could pretty certainly stand to come back just to keep it out of the emotion threads (they get locked less when ameripol exists, ha), yeah, it's probably going to be a rough few (at a minimum) years and the forum software's just not got very good tools to help an OP moderate. It'd be nice if someone jumped on that grenade for the rest of the forum, but gods know I ain't volunteering for it and don't blame anyone for not wanting to

It might not have been bad in scale (e.g. some of the guys who used to mass spam shock/gore images across threads) but bad in terms of response to moderation (people ignoring a warning to carry on doing the thing they were just warned about). I missed the drama but if you had four people with a year long beef who did not heed the thread lock or take some time to amplify their chill states, going on to continue the drama even into other threads, then... I don't like that Hector13 and Maximum Spin were banned over thread drama. The other two posters I did not know very much but I don't believe either of them could have ended up getting banned over this. They both seemed capable of chill discussion, and Hector13 in particular was a poster I much cared for, with them telling me to chill out when I got too invested in political threads. They even sent me a direct message wishing me well when I disappeared from the forums for half a year, and it meant a lot to me when I came back to bay12. Really wishing this had a different outcome. It feels necessary and unnecessary at the same time -_-

Why my threads tend to revolve around the basis of "If you can't behave yourself I'm banning the subject". Saves a lot of bother.

Also the most controversial thread is the LGBT thread, the only other "big" one is the random questions thread which I've lost any real control over. So the second big thing is to avoid having many.

Maximum Spin was banned once before, for what I thought were good reasons at the time. No idea how he sweet-talked his way back in here, but he was "living" on borrowed time and he surely knew it. Frankly he brought this on himself with his constant spindoctoring.

As for the other three, I can't say I know much about them, but if you saw the thread you could see that it was swiftly becoming the "personal attacks with occasional AmeriPol" thread and all four of them were regular contributors. Guessing there'd been several reports made over the years.

Sad to see four people banned over dumb ass political drama, knew some of those guys better than others and it'll be strange to not see them around any more.


Can't say I'm sad to see Ameripol die, that dumpster fire has been a source of drama for ages and the forum as a whole is better off with it gone, and hopefully it stays gone.
