I’ve noticed that the “MODIFY PROFILE” tab under “PROFILE” no longer works.  Also, the same thing is occurring with the “ACTIONS” tab and the “PREFERENCES” tab under “MY MESSAGES”.  Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Nope. I can get into the tabs and open them just fine...

Just checked.  It appears to be a problem with the browser that I’m using.

Im waiting on the RIVN Rivian Earnings Report, and this is serious call-center-waiting quality music, but it's that upbeat visionary crap you'd expect from Tech companies.  It's so bad, the bitrate must be in the double digits

My doctor called, gave me, well not bad news, just moderately annoying news. Turns out my last treatment wasn't the last, I have to do that every 8 weeks... like, permanently. And my insurance doesn't want to cover the treatments at the location I'd been going to. Which is actually good news since one of the locations they will cover it at is about a third of the driving distance.

EDIT: Mom got a computer. She asks for the wifi password. Which I write down for her. "Oh no, I don't know how to do any of that, could you put it in for me?" So, I turn it on. It appears to be either a fresh build or factory reset. Also, there's no wifi antenna, ethernet cable, or any other kind of communication hardware attached to it. She assumes I'll be able to fix that.

I'm not even that good at tech support anymore. There's a slight, very slight, chance I have a wireless device laying around somewhere, but that's about all I can do here.

It doesn't even have an ethernet cable port? Or do you just not have the cable for it?

No cable. Probably has a port, I just haven't gotten back there to check. I would assume it does.

Using a cable would require drilling some holes in my wall, though, as the router is in my room.

Eh, I accidentally bought a motherboard with no Ethernet card or whatever it is. Pretty simple to get a USB stick which does the job, though.

Seems like computers are coming with fewer and fewer ports these days, I mean my mom's laptop only has two USB slots and that's it.

The last computer I bought doesn't even have a CD/DVD drive or a slot to put one in.

That's a laptop thing, because people want their laptops to be ultraslim, the built-in keyboard and mouse don't need a USB, and it is trivial to expand your USB ports with a hub if you need it. Most desktop motherboards have at least four rear and headers for at least four front.

Quote
A hedge fund manager in Texas has demanded that a judge recuse herself from his bankruptcy case after alleging that she wrote a legal thriller featuring an antagonist based on him.

James Dondero, the former chief executive of Highland Capital Management, accused Judge Stacey Jernigan of bias against him and hedge fund managers in general, due to a plotline in one of her self-published novels.

Jernigan, chief judge of the Northern Texas district, writes novels in her spare time, with her self-published books Hedging Death and He Watches All My Paths earning strong reviews on Amazon.

The novels feature a protagonist, Avery Lassiter, who like the author is a Texas-based judge married to a police officer. However it is the antagonist in Hedging Death that has forced Jernigan to answer some fraught questions.

Dondero alleges that the judge based the character of Cade Graham, a wealthy Dallas hedge fund manager in the novel, on him. In the book Graham is accused of insurance fraud and of faking his own death in a fiery car crash.

That's a hell of a self-snitch rofl. "Yes, this corrupt fictional character who commits financial crimes is clearly directly based on me!"

Based judge, would vote for her.

Besides the lack of ports that ultra slim stuff is the other reason I don't like modern laptops, I prefer the older ones that are thick enough that I don't feel like I'm gonna break it tying to open it.

Monochrome amber-on-black, or GTFO....

(Double floppy drives optional. System on A; and Utility on B:, manually switching which disk is in the single slot as requested, is perfectly valid.)
