So I'm familiar with video game boot screens having that epilepsy warning, but just saw a new one:

"This game contains content and themes of <various acts of violence> and other mature themes. If you find yourself experiencing a negative reaction to these, or if you need mental health resources, please visit the link below."

My WTF is that this warning is after someone bought a "mature" game, and that a game company took on the burden of reminding people to seek help...  My personal biases can't see this as a benefit, but as rather another symptom of some kind of breakdown in what meager levels of common sense once existed.

I was puzzled. Still puzzled after a search. I had actually dismissed the chicken-themed hand-moulded smoking pipes (and/or bongs), advertised via an Etsy store, as irrelevent. I didn't have many other results to work with, but settled on it being a specialist type of motorcycle exhaust/muffler.

Probably everyday terminology amongst the right in-group (motorcycle builders/maintainers/connoseurs, perhaps). Very much a case of "I understand all the words, seperately, but not all of them together" for most of the rest of us, I suspect.

If this is for Silent Hill 2 it's not hugely uncommon. I believe the original game, and some of its sequels, had similar warnings. "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth" had a warning like this as well, though the "contacting mental health resources" is new. Does rather make sense considering the themes in Silent Hill 2 though and I don't know if all of them are stated on, say, the Steam store page.

Three streets around the corner from where I live, an anti-tank rocket launcher exploded inside a home. The side of the house was blown meters into the back garden, the neighboring homes are severely damaged. The injured people have been arrested and will be interrogated.

Not quite today any more, but, uh. Finally got off my ass and bought myself a gun.


Because while I was showering before work one morning a bit before dawn, I had my bathroom window open (which is in the shower and about 8ft above the alley outside; long story short the slumlandlord is too cheap to install fans in the unit bathrooms or bars on the windows but willing to make opening the window during showers mandatory in the lease agreement). I hear a man's voice below my window. Dude shouts "Don't be scared, I'm gonna bite your cock off!" and jumps to grab the window ledge before trying to pull himself through the window. I slam it shut, finish showering, and go outside with one of my whittling knives to make sure he cleared off before I bring my work stuff to my car. Shook in the moment but it was so fucking weird that I was laughing all day after the adrenaline wore off.


I guess the second junkie zombie interaction within eyesight of my apartment was the last straw for me.
