Had pain in my stomach all day yesterday, spent all night on the toilet. Called out of work today, partly from feeling ill and partly because I needed a day away from that place.

The attention whore supervisor's newest thing is to yell at the top of his lungs to call people who may be standing only twenty feet away. Worse, while he never addresses me this way, it seems he's intentionally waiting until he's standing near me before doing it. It isn't just annoying, it's genuinely painful.

partner: 'broil the naan bread, it'll taste better that way'

ok, so i put the naan bread in the oven and set it to broil on high

couple minutes later, naan bread is burnt

partner: 'i can't believe i have to teach a 30 year old man how to broil naan bread'

turns out 'broil it in the oven' does not mean 'use the broil feature on the oven,' it means warm it up a little

instructions unclear

still pretty tasty tho

I would say the word broil does imply something other than 'gently toast' or 'heat up'

You dont broil white bread in a toaster to make toast.

Broil = you have to watch it and pull it as soon as it starts to brown.

Not exactly what I'd throw out the "grown man" comment for though.

Well shit. I had read and absorbed the sagely advice on the dangers of grilling bread presented in the posts above, only to go and absent-mindedly grill my toasts to nice black crispness just now.

Wait, why? You can toast naan in a pan. Can toast most bread-stuff in a pan.

If you want to preserve the appearance of the top of the Naan, then broiling it is probably the best way to achieve that. You can do it in a pan and the bottom will be consistent but the top will brown unevenly without a lot of finessing due to all the bubbles that have already formed from the first bake and the fact that the parts of it that contact the surface of the pan will cook/brown way faster than the parts that aren't and...yeah. I can see it.

That said I've never bothered to re-toast my to-go Indian Naan because at that point I'm hungry AF and can't really be assed.
