I didn't know that existed, and it seems kinda perfect. Once the pronouns flow naturally because you speak the language, you get some subconscious grasp how even if it might be a pronoun that typically refers to something male, it has a different quality to it, less distinctly gendered. Like in my headcanon I used the notion of innumbrable to convey that, but I allways knew that word was way off the mark.

So I say it sounds perfect, because presumably there is the room for that kind of nuance without it "interrupting the natural language flow as everybody got acquainted with", yet it comes out of the tradition of the language. Yes there is still vaguely male sounding pronouns to encompass all as soon as one biologically male enters the group (wait is it biologically? I don't know one word of czech to be fair... and also simply the question seems to be too philosophical to be bothered with) and that still give some a reason to complain... But I guess that's like half the fun of it  :P
Not nescessarily biological.

It is mostly based on associations and how the last syllable sounds. Totally non-living things don't have to be gender-neutral, and often aren't. Animal species can be gender neutral.

Been doing the cardinal sin of reading fanfiction recently.

An oddly common thing is portraying the lead character of this particular franchise as having autistic traits, specifically selective mutism.  Admittedly selective mute can be its own anxiety-based disorder, but a lot of the traits overlap.  It isn't something I hard disagree with (kinda like it?) though I doubt it's canon in the slightest, and half of it stems from being a silent protag which is such a common video game thing I really don't attribute it as a hard character trait.  In the fics it's often not even a plot vital character trait, he's just that way because.

Anyways, for the longest time I never really got why people were always like 'I wish there was more x/y/z representation in media' till now.  Maybe because I can't trust more mainstream media to actually bother portraying autism spectrum characters correctly, to the point I'd almost rather they don't bother.

Yup. One of the many problems with autism portrayal is whether you choose to portray the higher or lower functioning members of the spectrum.

If you go lower, then you risk offending the aspies by feeding the stereotype that all autistic people are morons.
If you go higher, then you get accused of erasing the unpleasant realities of living with autism that some people experience.

For me personally, my favorite autistic portrayals are Sherlock Holmes from Elementary and Detective Booth from Bones. As far as I can remember, they never explicitly state the disorder which lessens the cringe. You just see competent, but quirky detectives.

There is a more specific depiction of autism in Elementary in some of the later seasons, though the character only appears in two or three episodes.

I thought it was tastefully done, but I have no real experience of it.

yeah, that's going to hurt for a while

just be glad they got it now instead of having to pull them out when you're even older and heal even slower

Goddamn ectopic beats or arrhythmias, whichever it is, are weird.

Heart felt like it just dropped down into my stomach for a moment before suddenly thudding like it needed to shift twice as much blood in one beat to make up for missing one.

When I had my wisdom teeth removed and was on the fun painkillers, my brother got me started on Morrowind on a laptop.

As best I can tell I went around reading books, possibly the same ones, in Balmora.  Finally revisiting the game last year, I was mostly surprised that I figured out the silt strider to Balmora.  I was pretty loopy, I've been told.  (Supposedly my brother also took me for a walk around the house... 4 times, without me noticing...)

man, all I got is horsepill ibuprofen and some hydrocodone. Day of the surgery, I couldn't even say anything fun or stupid, what with the mouthful of gauze and all.

To the first point, I should've taken the ibuprofen about an hour ago. Oww.....

The highlight of interesting sights on a 11-hour road trip (DC to Indianapolis) was big infrastructure.  Giant wind turbines, solar farm, a big arch suspension bridge over the Ohio.  Like, "damn that's a nice bridge."

In reflection I'm like, I really am autistic.

Not... because of that, though? Stuff like that highlights long trips for basically everyone, in my experience. Plenty of folks remember the awesome bridge they went over/past on the trip.
