The new MLP didn't keep any of the genuinly intelligent and knowledgable ponies from the previous show (Even if they tended to stay away from the ponies proper)
But... Twilight is intelligent to the point of insanity.

Speaking of Twilight, last night a girl honestly thought I was a vampire of the sparkly variety. I'm still WTFing over that.

Your body produces a lot of salt doesn't it?

I wasn't actually sparkly AFAIK. It was a series of unlikely factors including accent and injury coupled with a lonely girl's willingness to explain away the phrase "I am not a vampire."

Wait, lonely? I thought this was a kid telling you this.

That's even worse!

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

That's the most out of context thing I've seen ever. I don't even want to see the context.

I don't.
I.
What?
So he had some sort of giant ass-testicle with dick-nipples and the ability to produce miniature humans with the development of a foetus in everything but the head, but that are wrapped in a fishy skin. And they have big phallic protrusions on the non-sucky end that contain name stamps and excrete a white fluid if the body of the creature is compressed?

I think this is an appropriate thought process.
