I had... some REALLY weirdass dreams tonight. It was basically the Shadow over Innsmouth only in the Canary Islands and all the Deep Ones had gone native and spoke Canarian Spanish.

Clearly, you must now travel to the Canaries and embrace your heritage.

Well, to be fair, that's no stranger (from the deep one perspective) than Innsmouth proper.

Their native language is unpronouncable to humans, and the WHOLE GOAL was to move onto land, and do so by leveraging human genes.

English, spanish, what's the difference? Neither is Y'ha-nthlei-ian

Would it help if I mentioned that the deep ones piloted their program on island nations already?

(The deep one cult came to innsouth via obed marsh, who picked it up in (dramatic prairie dog pose) the Polynesian islands.)

This is a WTF on the depressing side of things.

I've looked up unit 731. They were a Japanese unit that did things like vivisect people alive after infecting them with disease, removed organs, removed and sometimes replaced limbs to test blood loss, tested numerous biological weapons on civilian populations, blew people up with grenades to test their effects at various distances, starved and dehydrated people to see how long they survived, tested the effects of extreme low and high pressure (apparently sometimes dropping the pressure to the point peoples eyes popped out), and did a metric shitload of other stuff. Very rarely was any of this done with any form of anaesthetic.

And they got away with it. They were granted immunity so long as they turned over their research.

EDIT: Oh no, it's worse than that. It wasn't some kind of "Hand this over for the common good of humanity". That at least would have been a bit better. Good old general Douglas MacArthur struck a deal with them so they got immunity so long as only the US got the research, in order to help with US biological agent and trauma research. They got granted immunity so that the US could Beat the Damn RuskiesTM

That's not only terrible, it isn't a surprise. Everyone got up to that kinds of stuff.

The 'everyone' club is rather small in this case, methinks.

That's ridiculous.
What did the Finns do to deserve such condemnation? Or the Norwegians? Or the Czechs? Or the Aussies? Or some 90% of other countries involved in that war?
