Yeah, no. That only works if you're one of the Blessed People who has ears that can actually accommodate plugs. I do all the proper steps, and the thing still sits in there for about 15 seconds before rocketing out of my ear like a bat out of a room filled with bat-repelling magnets.


Also I would've liked it if he ended up speaking in a louder voice for the rest of the video after inserting the plug.

Yeah, my wife's pistol is physically loud. When I stood four ish feet to her left, I could feel the compression wave in my face from the shots. My pistol has a different sound profile, but I suspect it's louder. Kinda like a sharp pop to her guns tight-then-sharp kacrack

What are you shooting? Sounds like she has a fairly short-barreled gun, with a lot of unburnt powder.

Pretty much every cartridge has more powder in it that is used in most guns, because you still get more power even if you don't get the full potential. This is why you get more velocity out of a longer barrel (up to a point) - you're making better use of the powder in the cartridge. For example, the most popular pistol round in the world (9x19 Parabellum) is usually used in pistols with a 4" or less barrel. Velocity for a 9mm peaks at a 16" barrel. However, the next smallest round (.380 ACP, which is confusingly the same .357" diameter of a 9mm) is still 20% slower from any barrel.
