Possibly trying to prevent the inevitable widening of the ice path, as is what happens when the borders get trampled down and melted? I'm pretty sure that's why a lot of Norwegians do it. If they think they can survive making the ice crossing, they'll leave the virgin footpath territory for others who need it more, so that there will still be some emergency side-snow left after a couple weeks.

I highly doubt that this is the case, there is simply no such 'snow culture/attitude" here (Athens, Greece).

PS The amount of snow would probably cause a Norwegian to laugh. There was just enough to become an inconvenience/slight hazzard for a population that is largely unfamiliar with snow, it will probably melt away in a couple of days.

edit: For fuck's sake, after I spend an hour cleaning (gathering the snow in small piles) the sidewalk with some neighbors, two idiots decided to kick said piles in the what was a clean area and then another one to step on what was left of them. There is a 5 meter wide clean sidewalk.

Meanwhile, Russia (at least in my city) fights the ice and snow by pouring chemicals everywhere that somehow make walkways even more slippy and kills dogs. True story, my mom's acquaintance had her dog harmed so much from the chemicals, that she had to euthanize the dog. I think we need some local deputy to slip on the ice, so that their skull cracks; it looks like it's the only way to make our civil service to start give a fuck.

Orrrrr, asking that two staff always be present when patients are being treated.

Undoubtedly this was a case of abuse by a man. But that doesn't mean women are sweet little angels 24/7 either. A 'catch all the scumbags' net is better than a 'wow we can't trust men let's specifically tail them, and only when they're treating women' net.

You know, I'd kinda like to have someone present during my clinic, to avoid misunderstandings as well as help in general with difficult cases, but as of now it's not f****g happening because there is simply noone to do it (or rather, it's happening sporadically when one of the CNSs are free). If the manpower isn't there (and in general there is a lack of all sorts of healthcare personnel worldwide) I don't see how they'll manage to implement that policy
