I was citing some stuff because I take the tryhard approach to internet arguments, and as I was doing research for my point, I realized to my intense surprise that I knew one of the people I was reading about. Like, in person. Like, he was a professor of mine for two classes a year ago. And he wasn't even a tertiary reference in what I was researching, he was a very central part of it. A major player, if you will. Like what in the actual fuck.

I mean I really shouldn't be surprised, but I am. I'm usually aware when someone I know has some level of celebrity in their field or in general (and there are a few, and it's usually pretty obvious), so this just took me by surprise. Maybe it surprises me because he was famous for being something (a historian) which was an element of his courses, but only a secondary element; both would probably primarily be called literature courses of a sort.

Went to look at the BBC tech news.

Last thing I expected was a picture of (covered) furry tiddies. Apparently it has something to do with a furry porn site data breach.

I don't know what's worse. The fact that the caption uses the term "Sexy furry creatures" or that I'm even aware of the site that got hacked at all, before it got hacked.

And I get a lot of news from the BBC through NPR.  They aren't perfect, but they're certainly better than...  I don't have to namedrop anything, everyone knows there's trash news catering to every opinion.

Nothing is trustworthy. I tend to accept the very general bones of what the news says, but also accept that there are probably bias-induced gaps in the narrative. It's really a game of "how well do I know this source? Can I tell what they will omit or even "lie" about?"

Fun times to be alive.

lol.  I'm trying to be serious.   They take cheap shots and little snipes, and when I read something like FoxNews or AlJazira or etc at least I can appreciate their viewpoints.  Their clickbaiting is pretty gross on their apps though.
