In another WTF, I only just now, this morning, realised that the bug with the 'new replies' button is definitely affecting me as well.
I'd seen people complaining of it for a while, but when that sort of thing happens to me I usually just assume that I previously opened the thread and got distracted midway through catching up, before forgetting about it - something which has actually happened at least a couple of times in the past.
Only now did I put two and two together.

It marketed itself as a strawberry flavored lowfat milk smoothy. What I GOT was a foul tasting thick fluid that is like drinking nasty liquid cheese. Now that I know what it is I feel I HAVE to drink all of it, it'd be a waste otherwise.

Seriously nope. Kefir is similar to Kumis, which was a drink the mongols used to make by letting bags of horse milk ferment. I guess when you gotta get drunk anything will do.

Not every fermented drink is meant to be alcoholic Reelya. Fermentation is simply an organism breathing when it doesn't have access to oxygen. Different species produce different byproducts when they use that metabolic pathway. Humans for example produce lactic acid (usually during intense sprints). It's those other chemicals that people make kefir for, any alcohol is incidental (or else you wouldn't be able to let children buy it from grocery stores)

Anyway I think kefir is shit as well, but there are some people who enjoy drinking something that tastes like sour cream. I can't comprehend why someone would try to make something like that strawberry flavored though. It ain't supposed to be sweet.

If kefir tastes like sour cream, I imagine it must be delicious if mixed with something sweet. Sour cream makes the best cake icing base and is better than regular cream when matched with something tart (certain apples, early picked strawberries, etc), so you know it's gotta be good.
