Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

I spent days hunting this one particular bug, with a remarkably unhelpful error message. It turns out that IntelliJ was aware that this was an issue and I just needed to hit the "Fix" button a few times. This button is just hidden behind two menus, and IntelliJ doesn't bother alerting you to any of this.

I like this IDE less and less the longer I have to use it.

It’s called the “power” button.

Most computers don't have one, but it can actually be activated by pressing Ctrl, Alt, and Delete at the same time.

By the way, that opens a menu on Win8 instead of rebooting.

Isn't that what it's done since at least Win 95?

You can, however, press it multiple times to force a restart. At least you could before. I forget if it was holding it in or just pressing it while the task manager was up, but yeah.

I miss the days when control-alt-delete wasn't useless.

Yeah nowadays it’s even half-assed at pulling up the task manager.

I’m reasonably sure it’s always opened a menu, it was a double press of the combo that restarted the computer.

It has been a long time since I used pre-XP Windows though.

Ninja’d, but really ‘cause I forgot I was going to post it.

Holy shit, 2018 is almost over. I feel like NYE was just a coupla months ago.
This could just as easily fit in the Sad Thread - what a waste of a year.
That's how it feels right now, at least. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood. Who knows. I have royally fukked my sleep schedule so I could just be feeling down.

Yeah nowadays it’s even half-assed at pulling up the task manager.
That's all I ask, yet nowadays I have to wait for some dumb, entirely superfluous menu to pop up, click on that option, then wait some more for the task manager to finally make an appearance.
Also what happened to my start menu and WTF is this hideous home screen garbage.
Maybe when I get around to replacing my falling-apart laptop I'll switch to a different, less-retarded OS. Probably not, I'm pretty lazy when it comes to computers. Also I'm not sure if such a thing exists - as bad as Windows is these days, at least it ain't Mac, haha.

I use it when something freezes and I have to close it with the task manager.
