I feel we have had this exact same conversation about each of our country foods, including asking Kagus for the onions and stuff..

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

If it isn't offered with more gravy/grease on it than actual food, it wasn't invented in America.

My WTF Alf the day is that I am still angry about someone nearly causing me to drive into them yesterday, and hypothetically nearly causing me to crash into someone else.

I think there was some more or less benign Norse settling along the northern coastline and islands back before the kingdom of Scotland got to the area, and of course there was trade and treaties at various points.

I wonder if falafel goes in sushi...

I want to try falafel
When done well, falafel is freaking delicious. I haven't cooked it myself so I don't know what the correct procedure is, but sometimes it's cooked to perfection, bursting with flavour and with just the right amount of crispness and crumbliness, other times it's horrifically dry and bland, like eating a mouthful of sand.

I kinda want a falafel kebab (or simply a 'falafel' as some call them) now. Maybe I'll just buy some falafels to cook at my friend's barbecue this evening, if that's still happening.

Edit:
America is a big place. Some of us actually know what good food looks like~
Especially those who live near the Mexican border. :P
I'm just teasin'. When I was there I ate plenty of delicious, non-Mexican food... although, of course, my first-ever chimichanga was undoubtedly a highlight.

maybe not enough onion in the falafel? or they just overcooked it.

There are also just wrong falafel mixes, as evidenced by the ones served at the local kebab joint. I really wanted to like it, since I know I like falafel and I also try to limit excessive meat consumption, but it's just... mushy and bland. And not fried enough. Might also have something to do with them being these deep-frozen patties.

There's another way to spread culture?

Like, for health reasons or for moral reasons? Because falafel is probably as bad as bacon for your health so you should probably be eating it because you want falafel, not because you want to be healthy. :P

Primarily health, but there's a moral component to wanting to support quality meats and farming practices over "lifelike industrial meat products, now with 12% less sawdust!"

And there's a big fat difference between deep-fried chickpeas and repeatedly processed red meat paste. I mean, no one's gonna argue that deep frying something is particularly healthy, especially not in most commercial setups, but it's still better than eating too much meat.

There's also an element of habit, as I grew up with a predominantly vegan/pescetarian diet and didn't start eating meat until I was in my 20's, so it's just normal for me to have most of my meals be plant-based.
