Gotta say as another card-carrying member, I don't know how to feel about the immediate assumption that 'Oh hey I found out that I share X trait with a large population of my gender' turned into what was indirectly an accusation.
Can people no longer have safe and happy (healthy is assumed by me but maybe debatable) sex lives without the question immediately lingering in the air of 'Yes but R-word'.

I'm currently trying to have something approaching a modern and healthy relationship, and mostly it involves so much space. I've got patience and self control both in abundance but at some point I'm expecting my partner to either tell me to dial up the assertiveness or go find someone who does.

I think the reason it never goes well is because people who feel their point is unwelcome will tend to rely on a button instead of discussion. I... never want anyone to feel that they can't share a part of their life here.
I know the place has gotten a lot bigger and thus less trusting than when I started, but this might be the only place you can have these kinds of discussions now, at least without it being a sounding box of one variety of another.

edit: on that note dragdeler, all<most<many<some. Easy rule of thumb for avoiding pissing people off is to take the level you think it is at, and then drop it a notch.
Nobody wants to hear that their demographic (and by extension likely themselves) are shallow, and in your personal experience you have interacted with a freaking tiny sample size of a particular population of a particular culture.
It's a lot more civil to keep those kinds of assertions to a first person vagueness, and that also means you can get away with saying some of the more contentious stuff without making enemies.

Do that and you'll either bore her out of her mind or just be disrespected. It's so ironic how you allways hear men are superficial for being interested in features people can't change about themselves; yet most women are only interested in how you present yourself and your resume.

Oh, they can definitely change. I was attracted to her boobs when we first met. Those are mostly gone now.


...on a slightly more serious note, the relationship really hasn't been healthy for a long time, and bedroom relations are included in that description. But at least I never got together with that lifestyler I dated many years ago... Pshaw!

Also thanks for worrying you guys. I'm better now, just had one of those LordBaal three days in a row work extravaganza, instead of work was the actual appointments for the papers.
