In truth I'm pain tolerant but very risk-adverse. I just have a really intense sickening feeling at the idea of my body being damaged... but after it happens it's not so bad. Maybe seeing my own blood calms me...
Like "oh hey that's gonna leave a scar and there's nothing I can do at this point to prevent it, let's deal with the blood."

I used to be a wimp on the pain tolerance department when I was a kid. 25 years of migraine though changed me into that guy that tells the dentist that there's no need for sedation, just go ahead and drill that molar please.

Bah, I once had a total right lung collapse and partial left lung collapse and barely felt it. Fortunately, I insisted on going to a hosptial to know why I was out of breath, tired and had this weird sensation in my chest, or I wouldn't be typing this. Also am resistant to sedation, as I found out shortly after getting to the hospital.

I can't stand headaches, but muscle soreness and bruises feel like victory to me.  Signs of a good workout (which I know is inaccurate, it's just a learned response).
Sunburns and headaches drive me up the wall though.  I'm so glad I don't get migraines, and I drink a *lot* of water when exercising or... drinking.
I don't get a lot of cuts, but I carry some scars I feel pride/nostalgia about despite being from bad events.  It's nice to remember such strong emotional times, when life feels dreary.
Needles freak me out until they're actually in.  I don't know why, but the anticipation seriously scares me.

It's not the hurt part that's bad, it's the needle. Inside you. A tiny, thin, fragile little piece of metal that's inside ur veins, sucking ur blood.
It is equally uncomfortable before and during.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mind if I was the one handling the needle.  I'm pretty okay with it when I know exactly when it'll go in, so I try to coordinate that (which opposes their training, which is to distract and jab, but they tend to play along since they see me visibly relax my arm).

It's *weird* having the needle in, but nothing compared to the anticipation.

Started watching the Kirby anime, the English dub of which is titled Kirby: Right Back at Ya. Only a few episodes in, and I'm a little shocked at how brutal it is. I'm guessing it gets less so later on.

The series opens with a flock of sheep being attacked by a giant octopus. They run, but aren't able to escape the tentacles, which pull the sheep towards the octopus. Then the octopus spits out bones. Like, a mountain of bones and sheep skulls that would make Genghis Khan jealous.

Second episode, Kirby defeats Blocky by splitting it into four smaller ones, swallowing one to gain the Stone ability, then forcing the other three into the ocean, where they cannot escape, and unlike the rest of the monsters I'm mentioning, there's no indication they died. Oh, and as he swims away, Kirby spits out the fourth Blocky and it sinks too.

Third episode starts with Metaknight challenging Kirby, and it seems like the violence is toned down a bit, as Metaknight is only slapping Kirby's face with the side of his sword(he has a very good reason NOT to kill Kirby). Then, towards the end, Kirby is fighting Bugsy, gains the Sword ability, and kills Bugsy via Sword Beam through the face. Bugsy tries to block it with a pair of swords, but it breaks them and Bugsy has a good half-second to realize how screwed he is. The Sword Beam actually does cut Bugsy's head in half, with Bugsy having an entirely appropriate expression of someone whose central nervous system was just bisected. Then his halves pull apart, just before he explodes.

Fourth episode repeats that scene with Kracko. While it seems less graphic since Kracko is a cloud(and poorly animated), he's also bisected through the eye.

And this is the English dub I'm watching. Apparently it's even more violent in the original Japanese.
