Mmm....sexy conjecture.
Consexture.

@Truean: Don't sweat it too much. We're all just talking off the top of our heads. For all we know, he's upset because you leave a butt dimple in the couch that doesn't contour to his shape properly.  :P

I'd hang out with ya Truean. And you wouldn't have to worry about me stealing any of your booze, unlike other people on bay12 :O
What? I'd replace it.  :-[

Lol, a Beau is only used for boyfriends, Frumple. J/C is that an old word though, have you been reading Terry Pratchett?
I've been using it interchangeably re: gender for a long while now... shorter than significant other or something like that, and boy/girl friend is too much effort toward identification. I just like a single word that applies to "thing which you're consensually humping (or in a relationship roughly equivalent to people that would be consensually humping)." Makes things easier. Beau works well enough, minor gender confusion regardless :P It's basically what I default to when I don't feel like typing or saying something longer.

And I've read quite a bit of Prachett, but I'm pretty sure I picked up beau th'first time from something, uh. Well, many years before I read Prachett. Hellen Keller or something like that. Some play mi madre was in when my age was still single digit, iirc.

And throwing in with the general Truean support, heh. I've roomed with a bi fellow and had a friend or two come out of the closet... sexual or gender orientation just stopped really mattering to me a long time ago. I'd probably avoid yeh while the booze was flowin', True, but be happy to hang otherwise.

If I can bias my baseless conjecture toward the sexy, it makes my day a bit brighter.
Words to live by.

This made my day, and I'm going to jail in an hour or three. I award Frumple with two internets and kaijyuu with a brownie.

Also, /freudian five at Heliman. Although most of what Freud had conjectured has been since either disproven or been shown to be somewhat inaccurate, AFAIK. I only took high school psychology and sociology, so I'm definitely not an expert on the matter.

Ninja'd:

I could be completely and utterly off-base on that one. But I'd hazard that even having to grasp with the idea of a transgender MtF wearing his girlfriend's dress.....it's probably at least making him aware that there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in his sexual philosophy. Which probably makes him uneasy.

Not saying he's justified, just saying I can see how he might be unnerved.

I hope you're way off base.... I suppose that's theoretically possible, just not with me. Not sure what I could ever say to convince him of this though. I understand where you're coming from as far as guessing his motives.

At this point I'd wager that instead of jealousy, he's just homophobic (or at least a mixture of the two.) This is especially true considering that "family event" he said you couldn't go to awhile ago.

Like, he's certainly not jealous that you're wearing his GF's dresses, it's not likely that he wants to wear them himself :P. What's more likely is that he finds that some dude getting his sweat all over his GF's clothes is disgusting.

Thankfully, a.) regular washing, and not much if any sweat but yeah. He could just have a problem with the idea of me in a dress and think it's gross or something, unfortunately. [shrugs].

People are afraid of what they don't understand. Anger is one of the basic responses to fear, seeing as how the two options in fight or flight (the fear response) are fight (get angry) or flight (avoid the issue).
Chances are that you being trans is inconcievable to him, and since he doesn't understand what it means, he is afraid of any of the possibilities you bring to a situation, regardless of the truth of the matter. So he gets angry, because for most guys, getting angry is considered 'more manly' and 'acceptable'. Thus his apparent 'jealousy' at you being with his girlfriend.
It's all basic psychology.

/freudianfive

Also possible I guess. [sigh].

I don't really know who I'm supposed to hang out with given that this kinda crap occurs. Many guys seem to be jerks/don't like the real me one bit. Some girls are nice about it and share interests with me, but have boyfriends who are not ok with me. [shrugs]. This narrows down the list of "people I can be myself with," quite a bit.... When shit goes wrong or they have to move though, then I can come around....

I'd be your friend, were I in your geographic location, Truean. I don't think it should matter whether a person identifies themself as a girl or boy despite their gender. Everyone is a human being with thoughts and feelings and hopes and desires, and no one really deserves to be stereotyped and put down for being 'different'.
People try to destroy and demonize what they don't understand, and that is probably the single greatest flaw of humanity.

I'd hang out with ya Truean. And you wouldn't have to worry about me stealing any of your booze, unlike other people on bay12 :O

I'm on Drug Court, so stealing booze would be out of the question for me. :P

Could be Boyfriend was just suprised to see a dude in a dress sitting next to his girlfriend on his couch.

I mean, I don't have anything against *sexuals, but If I was just goin' home one day and all the sudden there's a man in a dress on my couch I'd be a little weirded out. I've theorized that most people, wether they admit it or not, are squicked by homosexuality and related things as some sort of natural means of keeping social pressure up to breed. Since gay folk don't generally produce offspring of their own, nature probably wouldn't take kindly to them not makin' babby. Maybe he reacts with anger easier than the other ways? It's natural, but then again so is wiping your ass with a leaf.

He could also have been brought up in a prim family and is still getting used to someone who isn't heteronormative or whatever. Or he didn't mean to inflect the words like that but he did anyways because troll brain.

Either way, I'm for Truean finally being able to calm down, everyone on here seems to have at least one serious life issue and it's making me feel left out.

Nonsense. Natural selection favors the survival of the species, not the individual within the species. Furthermore, we aren't genetically "optimized" just because of natural selection, as you can see by the number of horrific genetic disorders that crop up.

People are squicked by nonheteronormality (say that five times fast) as a cultural response, not a genetic one. Cultures that lack or are losing a discriminatory attitude towards nonheteronormatives lack the negative response.

Anyway, back to WTF:

I never asked for this.

Yeah, I doubt it has anything to do with evolution or natural selection, but rather that we as a species have this bad habit of thinking that "normal" is good, and "weird" is bad. If you saw someone walking down the street half naked singing some pop song at the top of their lungs, the impression likely wouldn't be a good one, despite the behavior not actually having any negative consequences.

Social conformity is sickening and highly pervasive, and it seems doubled for sexual things. "Gay" is "bad" because it's seen as deviant. Different. Gross. Not because there's anything inherently bad about it. Once we generally accept it as normal, most the hatred will vanish. Then people will direct their hate at people who listen to different bands or something.

When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

[shrugs] Yeah I guess. Though I'd say it's social rather than evolutionary.

Though to be fair: a.) her place, not his, b.) He knew I was gay and she told him about me beforehand (it answers those "who's that guy you're hanging out with?" questions), and c.) I actually don't look bad as a woman :P Not that I'm self biased or anything: not a supermodel, but not fugly either. lol.

O, I'd freaking love to calm down. One sweet day maybe I will. Til then, I only dream of that. :)

As I must point out, for the third time, business and school firewalls are generally not operated by human beings. They are operated by computer scripts and block things without seeking approval from an outside source so they can keep up with the internet, but this causes things which should not be blocked to sometimes become blocked. If you actually have a good reason to go to a blocked site, you can probably clear this up by calling the system administrator and requesting a block removal.

And stop slacking off when you're supposed to be working.
