Yeah, I probably got the question just grossly wrong. I'd need to look at it closely again.

Which is perfectly fair, most of them are just a seemingly random assortment of numbers and letters.

It's entirely possible that the problem is printed right. Middle school/high school algebra is when they start to introduce the idea of there being no solution to an equation or system of equations. In that case, you simply state something along the lines of "no solution".

The opposite case can also occur, when any value works because you eliminate at least one variable entirely and get a true statement (like 1 = 1). In that case you say that the solution is something like "all real numbers".

t=undefined or t=+infinity if you don't mind using things that aren't numbers. Would not recommend latter.

If the question is literally "What's t?", the answer is around the lines of "something that simplifies out of the equation", as you can subtract 9t from both sides, leaving you with 10 = 9 which is false.

Yeah, the usual correct way of writing "this equation is impossible", at least at this level, is to say that the answer is the empty set, {}. Much like how the answer to t*t = 4 is the set {-2,2}. At least, this sounds like the sort of problem that is used to introduce the concept of a solution being more or less than one number.

Well you could multiple the whole equation by 4. Then it becomes "what's for t?" to which the answer is "fish and chips".

T = Earl Grey, such that 4(t) = fish and chips

In cas anyone isn't aware, in Commonwealth countries "What's for tea?" means "what's for dinner", not actual tea.

Have you tried using quantities for t with special qualities, like say, i? (The quantity of the square root of -1)

Eg,
i^0=1
i^1=i
i^2=-1
i^3=-i
i^4=1
...

So, for
10t+10=9t+9, solve for t;

We could say that t represents some exponentiated expression of i.

(10(i^X))+10=(9(i^X))+9

Eg,

(10(i^2))=((10)(-1))=-10
So,
-10+10=0

And

(9(i^2))=(9(-1))=-9
-9+9=0

So t=i^2 appears to solve.
As does t=-1

Right? (Doing math after waking up to pee at 3am probably is not a good idea.)

The problem was 9t + 10 = 9t + 9, not 10t + 10 = 9t + 9. The latter is a much simpler one, simplifying to t + 1 = 0 and thus t = -1 even without i.

Like I said, math after up to pee at 3am = bad idea.

You get details (like that) wrong when not awake.

I still think some exponential expression of i can solve, where resolved value is i^X=1, while being a perfect multiple of both 9 and 10.

That's the sleepy hunch I am playing anyway, after the correction, before saying "not my problem" and going back to sleep, because too tired to math right now.

Edit:
Damnit. Now I can't sleep. Its all your fault you know. Now I have to test the hunch. I hate all of you.

OK, lots of time later, and exhaustive exploration of abusing i, shows no valid solution. Or at least I did not find one.

It can be written as "∄t" (t does not exist).

As for the question "What Star Trek should I watch," the answer continues to be "TOS, the first few films, DSN, and parts of TNG."
I'm no expert, but according to my sources, those in need of a Star Trek fix in this day and age are best off watching The Orville.

My stepdad seems to be in one of his "king of the world" phases again. He was up at around 2AM screaming at my mom because she was snoring, and apparently the reason she was snoring was because he had the farts. I've never actually thought of my mother as a snorer, though.
