There was a controversy some time back on r/socialism where the head mod was banning anybody who had ever admitted to drawing or liking catgirls, on the basis that catgirls were a cut-out for capitalist degeneracy and pedophilia. If you had that much in temp files, you should consider trimming the journal, and shrinking the MFT as well.

There are some defrag utilities that will do that, but the skinny is that windows' NTFS holds on to stale metadata about deleted files, basically FOREVER. If you had lots of files in the temp folders, you probably have a bloated MFT full of stale metadata that windows just wont get rid of.


I got banned from the Bethesda Softworks forums for discussing actual ecology, mentioning that chemicals found in plastics were causing declines in polar bear populations due to buildup at somatic levels effecting the large carnivores, and disrupting sex hormone production, causing male bears to have smaller than necessary penises. (and even cited research notes.)  The moderators *INSISTED* that I was saying that you needed a massive mammoth schlong to do the job, and banned me over it.

No, they took great exception to the use of the term "micropenis", which was used directly in the literature to describe the bears' condition, and has a very specific meaning in the literature. First, they wanted to say I was using an offensive slur-- then, they wanted to say that I was insisting that you needed a massive johnson, then they said they were tired of arguing with me. (never mind that at each and every objection they made, I had peer reviewed literature armed and ready.)

At the end of the day, it was just an angry moderator who did not like a specific term, and did not like being corrected on his absurd bias, inventing bullshit reasons to terminate my user account.  Their loss. I was the *ONLY* person there who could do xbox saved game editing to salvage corrupt game saves, corrupted by their own incompetence in storing junk data in the save, causing it to swell to enormous sizes, to the point where time to read the save exceeded the disk read timeout, causing a dirty disk error.   (And I was fixing an average of 20 saves for people making complaints a week.)

Thankfully, Toady one does not have such biases.

The only thing I can remember being banned from offhand was a Tribes: Starsiege server because there was an unlisted(possibly, I didn't know the tech very well at the time) rule about requiring OpenGL(instead of software acceleration), since cloaking devices(100% invisibility) were modded in and players using it weren't actually invisible to people using software rendering. Not sure why that memory came back up, that was almost 20 years ago. Also, holy crap that was almost 20 years ago.



According to the weather report, it wasn't supposed to rain until tonight. However, around 10:30 in the morning, it was pouring. On the other hand, a good jog in the rain did give me an idea of my physical fitness. ...I really need to get some cardio done. That's odd; I can't find a single reference to polar bears having abnormally sized genitalia as a result of exposure to plastic toxins anywhere in the literature, open-access or otherwise. There are references to brittle bacula caused by exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls, but no evidence of actual breakage.

If you still have that peer reviewed literature handy, I'd be genuinely interested to see if they proposed any kind of endocrinological mechanism for this.

Sadly no. 

I do remember that the implicated compound was bisphenol A, and associated metabolites. The reported abnormalities were in testis size, sperm health and count, and mature penis length.

The date of publication would have been sometime in the summer of 2006, based on the livescience public article.

I've got the only warning I've ever received on any forum from the Bethesda forum mods. For suggesting, iirc, that skooma could be taken through the old trick of wetting a ball of cotton and shoving it up your bum. It was too vulgar, apparently.

Thanks for the reminder. Just checked my MFT size, it's only at 764 megabytes. This isn't my forte, but judging by the numbers I've found from other people dealing with this, that's not overly large. At least, not enough for me to want to bother with reformatting and shit.

Does the bloat mostly occur when you've been deleting lots of smaller files? I've mostly been clearing out very large (i.e. 1GB+) files from old mod and game downloads.
