Oh hey, that issue with not being able to activate my new card because there was no obvious option to do so? Well it seems the obvious option was to simply go through the steps of creating a new account, and everything gets transferred over automatically. That easy, in fact I originally thought that's how you did it from the start. I didn't need to go through all that stuff with the phone system at all.

Are you sure? I'm from 2010, and there were definitely Z-levels when I started, and I started playing well before I registered.

Of course, considering the release schedule, it's quite possible that's true.

I can't find the date for z-levels, but I know that Boatmurdered was pre-z-levels (them dashes) and that was 2007.

Anyway, z-levels or no I'm pretty sure it was one release or another. I think it might have been the first to make waves on reddit? There was one that did that and it set the record.

That's neat, though.  I guess I started only about a year after 3D was introduced...  Heh, feeling nostalgic now.  Guess I'll give the latest version another go (I still felt like the military stuff was confusing, last time).

Heh. That would appear to be the reason I actually got around to joining the forum. First post was confirming/helping to confirm a Z-level bug with indefinitely suspended mid-air stuff, day or so after that release.

When DF updates, it tends to get posted on other sites. When that happens, a bunch of people decide to register to the forums, for help getting into the game if nothing else.

I can't quite remember why I started playing DF, but I think it was an article.  It was a long time ago, but I was probably browsing free strategy games or something, and noticed that it was ascii, and the article pointed out some of the depth.
