Maybe... It's kinda like a character having a scar on their face, is it a reference to harry potter? Maybe it is, but also facial scars are just a common thing on characters, as a somewhat silly example.

The heat isn't so bad once you get used to it to be honest. Once you get over the fact that it's literally over 100 degrees, you sort of just forget about it and focus on the worst part: ants. More specifically, fire ants that are desperate for water and willing to swarm you just to consume your sweat. Any water or food product of any kind is going to become a massive pile of ants in a short period of time. Now that's a problem a fan can't fix.

Pretty sure I embarked on a similar location in DF. It wasn't a long fort 'cause the dwarves kinda instantly liquefied.

It is VERY much linked to this other insistence... It makes me think that people are just framing the opponents in the worst possible light... Like if you were a Liberal and you spoke about how Conservatives give each other high fives whenever they evict poor people.

Yea.  The nature of politic is to make the other side as evil as possible; to caricaturize them in order to belittle their argument and further your own.

Plus, people like to joke and pretend, so they do so with this, and eventually grow to think these things are less joke and more serious.

Im surprised you dont study the topic of rhetoric in politics more.

Like, bro, thats just how people propagate their ideas most efficiently.  Thousands of years of study has went into learning how to best spread one's influence, and since good ole' sword and board isnt so popular anymore, rhetoric is on the rise.
