That could explain a lot.

It is terrifying.

Speaking of pirating, Owner of what was previously Sweden's biggest site for illegal streaming of movies has been sentenced to three years in prison.

By Swedish standards, this is an outrageously grave sentence. He is literally getting jailed for longer than many people guilty of violent crimes.

Of course. Because copyright infringement is equal to murder and assault, (Except when the copyright cartels do it, of course. Then you should look elsewhere citizen.)

What I find funny is that it is VERY likely the owner of the site didn't earn anywhere near that amount... and that it is typical overestimation that we see in cases like these.

That's what tax law does here with cannabis growing. If they catch you with 25 plants, they assume you must have been growing 25 plants every two months for at least 2 years and the tax office will fine them accordingly, no matter if in reality it was your first 25 plants ever.

EDIT: or maybe, now that I think about it, they stopped doing that. I think I remember reading that they found out that this only forced people deeper into criminality to pay off their tax debts (considering most poor sods who get caught growing weed are the less mentally gifted who got tricked into growing for the weed maffia), and quit making too high estimates.

It might have something to do with the fact that sometimes taking away all of someone's money and possessions, with little way to make a living, is often a far worse punishment then jailing them.

Jeez I need to read better. I read the first line like ^that, and the whole post was very confusing.

Reading through a thread of somebody accusing people of hacking a game.

Quote from: The Expert
I am very adept at spotting hacks of all different types. This is not something that they lay person is equipped to do.

Also a claim that the people saying they've never seen a hacker in the game are actually just hackers trying to discredit him.
It's like when you criticise someone's computer and they suddenly have a degree in computer science.

And then their computer is still garbage and you wonder what the point of a computer science degree is :P

Depends on why that have that dinosaur...  I have quite a few sitting around.

Did you know that most of the newer CPUs on the market today have really terrible "management engines" baked into them that can literally be used as malware platforms without your knowledge?  I DID! (because I keep up on this shit-- And no, AMD is not any better. It's Platform security Processor is basically just their own version of the Intel Management Engine, and does exactly the same things.) So, if you are *REALLY* security conscious, you *WILL* keep a few dinosaurs around for this reason alone.

But hey, "Newer is always better!" and all that! Why would somebody with a CS degree keep old clunkers around, I mean, REALLY!? ;)

Did you consider making them fight to the death, the victor consuming the loser in order to absorb their power?

Edit: I guess that works for both previous posts...

No, because then we would have a sequel to Rage Wars.

No. Instead of absorbing all that latent power, they just end up absorbing deadly neural prions.  Totally not worth the effort or expense.
