I do not approve of drunk driving. Not at all. I hate it, in fact. Good riddance, indeed. A terrible day, by the sounds of it, but with a bit of a silver lining, after all.

Now, my contribution. Not a strict WTF, but certainly an 'Aaaww.' The Swedish prime minister spent the day inspecting the troops stationed on Gotland, including the armoured forces. The press were on-hand, and took a lovely picture.

just as my own finances were looking like they were improving dramatically i lose a good chunk of my income to an honestly uexpected event.  its a common expense too, so ...

dammit am inches from getting a new car and was even contemplating what it would take to get 2 new computers

about 800$, if you cannibalize old parts (like chasis, power supply, monitor, etc.)

What class (office, gaming, server, etc) of computer are you aiming to get?

This was actually near Monday or so, but it still qualifies, I think.

Mom and I have a really bad habit of not removing things like our Christmas decorations. There's a wreath on our front door we have not removed.

When I was coming home from school on Monday, I approached the door to be greeted with a small creature flying out in front of my face, spooking me a lot. Mom wondered what it was, and I hadn't noticed where the creature came from, but did hear the fluttering of bird's wings.

On Tuesday, I approached more carefully, noticing something in the wreath itself. As I approached the door, the creature flew out of something in the wreath, surprising me a bit. Then I showed Mom what was in the wreath.

It was a bird's nest.

A bird's nest that is just short of being on our doorstep.

We've decided not to remove the wreath for now. I just hope the stress of having humans approach the nest daily doesn't harm the bird...

They took their prank too far.  They should have broken the act after the kid became mortified, then explained the prank. Punishing a kid for something you KNOW they DID NOT DO, is NOT funny.  Watching them freak out, then reassuring them by explaining the prank, and that they knew they had not done it, that might be mildly entertaining, depending on the kids' reactions.

Just be aware that pulling pranks like this on kids, sends them the message that pulling pranks like this is "OK", which can have disastrous consequences, especially in younger children.

Kid who my brother went to school with hospitalized a girl with a "fart spray" prank can at school, so he has to do community service. His entire defense was "it was a prank, I didn't mean to hospitalize anyone", as if it being a prank means anything.

Pranks are sort of what Jerks do... the vast majority of the time.

The key to tell if the prank means you are the jerk is... Who cleans it up?

For example the Engineering class in one school as a prank... held a car up by suspension wires. They were also the ones to take it down... They weren't Jerks.

Birds are pretty smart some times. They may have stopped recognizing you as a threat.

My stepdad has taken to tossing some bird feed out in the yard every morning. Now the birds approach fairly closely like they're expecting to be fed.

That said, messing with the nest will result in a very angry bird.
