I make a neat buttery cream sauce with habanero that goes on seafood, usually a pasta with scallops.

Wife asks for it for special occasions.

Not having to put the heat on in order to warm the water up? Instantaneous shower? Doesn't go cold if you run out of heating oil?

We uh, use oil for heat in the US too, though it has been phased out in most homes.

Hmmm. Well, I suppose this could be a result of me living in the countryside, but the houses my parents bought in local towns had boilers too, so I don't know. First thing to do when you get a house is check the boiler's okay.

Sorta? Not sure if I'd use the term central heating system, since that term tends to be used for air conditioning and such and the water piping isn't terribly often involved much with that, but water heaters basically heats water that gets moved where it needs to be. I'm just not sure what oil has to do with it. Dun's noted it exists but I've never actually seen or heard mention of it before now. Gas, yeah, but that mostly only a ways back. Most of the stuff's just electric these days.

They aren't common in the US but it's basically a shower head that actually has an electric heating element in it. They CAN be safe but they quite obviously spook people that didn't grow up around them.

We considered installing one here when we had our gas shut off permanently but we ultimately switched to an electric water heater instead of an electric shower head. My sister thought a shock risk, even if super unlikely is too much given my heart issues and the fact a fairly minor shock I got at work one day nearly destroyed the pacemaker I had put in.
