The whole point of the Darwin Award is that the recipient has removed themselves from the genepool through an act of perceived foolishness and so, the implication goes, has done future generations a service. The vast majority of Darwin Awards are posthumous.
My favourite one is the guy who was screaming at his son, who was holding his knife. Best last words of all time

"What are you going to do, stab me?"

I dunno, I guess yeah and no, sounds like the father's fault was that he was a stubborn mule who wanted to prove a point whilst he had grievously misread the situation. The court verdict if that helps, was that though this kid had killed his father, they acknowledge that he had extenuating circumstances given that his father was trying to get stabbed

Really just a situation that would've gone down better with calmer heads, quick wits and dull knives

Fewer, not less.
Fewer.
Normally I wouldn't 'cause it's the internet and I don't know people's comfort with English or the potential for dyslexia, but I don't like it when folk dehumanise the other folk they disagree with, so it's totes warranted :p

Nah, it's okay, it's just that every time someone corrects someone with "Fewer" I have this tiny little gritty Stannis the Mannis in my head that gets really annoyed and spouts out "Fewer."

I wouldn't mind that so much if he brought some knights to vanquish the wildlings attacking my sanity.

The grinding teeth does get annoying after a while, on the other hand.

I was thinking about Quiddage and Harry Potter and basically the rules... and when I did... I'd make two changes...

One is a very boring "Changing how the league format is done to be less reliant on total points"

The second is controversial but frankly it is the worst part about the sport...

I'd remove the Seeker and the Snitch.

===

Think about it this way... Imagine Soccer where during the game... There was also a Track and Field race to the side... and that the result of this race was like 90% of the points.

Yeah theoretically you can earn more points playing the game then the Snitch will give... But not only are those rare BUT are typically situations where either the Snitch doesn't show almost at all (games in theory can last more then a day... and not "Come back later" either...)... OR where one of the Seekers was taken out and the team is intentionally delaying the game...

In other words it is also an anti-fun mechanic for people playing. SURE really fun for the fans...

Note: This isn't a criticism of how the game works in the movies/books... MANY sports in history were broken and serious problems even after they were made professional. Many of its biggest issues are things that existed in real life even today! (Games without a reasonable end point, Far too dangerous, Rulebook is secret, stupid nonsense rule, League system broken, Overfocus on sports over everything else... seriously why are like 80% of the house points the stupid sports games?, Flagrant cheating)

As Ron explained about the Golden Snitch, Milo considered it thoughtfully. From what he could tell, the Seeker's success or failure completely invalidated everything that the other players did. It was as if the sport was set up entirely to give Seekers a backdrop to compete against. "I like it!" Milo said. "It has everything. Magic, danger, and rules blatantly skewed for the PCs to shine."

To be honest, I belive the world would be a much better place with little Stannises in everyone's heads.
Sadly, everyone seems to have Cerseis, Ramsays and a whole herds of Sand Snakes.

I've got a good dollop of Samwell Tarly, with aspirations towards Jon Snow style strength of character.

In other words, a well-read coward who doesn't want to be a coward, heh.

I'm mostly Stannis, though indulge in the idealism of a Ned Stark.

My favourite headcanon about it is that the Seeker role was made up by some king to give his stupid, lay-about princeling who has no skills or team ability except to fly around and Spot The Shiny Thing something to do in this Big Thing everyone loves.

IIRC they originally used a live bird as the snitch. Maybe the seekers were originally there to keep birds off of the pitch, but once they realized that the crowd spent more time watching them than the game they were incorporated into it as a key element.

Or the game could have developed as a fanciful extrapolation of a wizarding fairy tale that involved a boy who chased the snitch, thus making him the most relevant player in the game.
