Are they sure that this isn't just a correlation? People who shave daily are probably composed in large part of pornography, prostitution, and extremely casual sex.

Wut?

Newsflash: shaving the pussay is not something exclusive to kinky dark rooms. It's rather something that most women do for over two decades now because they have been told it's more hygienic. Having a thick bush is so '60s.

He's saying that the shaving doesn't matter, but people who shave have more sex with random people.
I think.

If you are shaving your pubic hair off daily, it is probably much more likely than the general population that you are involved in those activities, and those convey their own risk of STDs. It opens the possibility that shaving does not cause STDs anymore than sleeping in your shoes causes hangovers.

That's exaclty what my wut was about. That's one of the most hilariously absurd presumptions I heard in ages.

I kind of get the idea. Why mow the lawn if no-one's coming to visit?

Though many people like to keep their lawn trimmed just because it's their lawn, and they're proud of it. Others probably got some gum stuck in their lawn or something, I don't know their life.

You could also conclude from that that it's not prostitutes and porno actors who shave most, but rather married women (which would be just as absurd a conclusion)

You think most married women shave every single day? And you call me presumptuous?

Having a grassy lawn is wasteful. Grow some tomatoes there or something.
What were we talking about, again?

No I don't, why?

But tbh, when you made the link with shaved pussy and prostitution / pornography, I couldn't help but get a mental image of a backwater church in the Bible belt, with a priest preaching doom and damnation to the sinners who shave their bush.
Perhaps morals about it in the US are different than over here, but I've never ever heard anyone associate shaving pubic hairs with promiscuity. Only with hygiene.

Yeah I doubt most do that *every day* at the least...  Probably a lot don't ever.  I think legs are more of a weekly thing?
That's exaclty what my wut was about. That's one of the most hilariously absurd presumptions I heard in ages.
Yeah, seems like a textbook example of correlation not being causation.
The shaving doesn't cause the STDs.  STDs are more common if you have casual sex, which encourages shaving privates.

Though shaving down there is, to quote Abridged Krillin, "Hygienic!"
IDK, I honestly suggest trying it.  Matter of preference though.

Another debate, this time about moral responsibilities and corporations. Like blood diamonds or sweatshops.

One person made a thread on why weed should be legal. A few people shouted "COMMUNISM" and that profit is all we need in a capitalist society, and that our own laws are harsh and unnecessary on corporations. Some people blame the citizens of third-world countries for not having any human rights, and thus are letting themselves be abused.

There are reasonable posts, though. There are also posts I can barely read because English is not the first language of these students.

No one's even debating. Everyone just made their own separate thread. Barely any even have replies.

Isn't it a requirement of assignments like that to reply to two other threads with the presumption that it will encourage discussion? I took a jazz survey class like that, what counted for most posts was "i liked xyz and feel that xyz showed good use of $thischapter'sjazzconcept," with responses in line with "i agree with you that xyz did $thischapter'sjazzconcept well." It was dumb, but I suppose it was the cost of taking a jazz course online for university.

Or maybe this is just another forum somewhere, I might be projecting. Bit jarring to know they're your peers, huh.

Pretty sure inter-forums drama isn't allowed by the rules. These are classmates.

I wasn't trying to kick anything up nor implying that you were doing such, I just recall such class discussion assignment happening in the class's own semi-forum thing happening in a topic-and-response format (ala forum), and the assignments being dreadful. I remark 'these are your peers' the same way I think on the average Youtube commenter.

Maybe I've misread the whole thing?

Ah. Yeah, it's a pseudo-forum hosted online by the school. I wouldn't count those as proper forums, as they will eventually be completely erased, and hold no anonymity.

People aren't responding though. There's more than a dozen threads with no replies whatsoever, and people are either off-topic or extremist. Or nonsensical.

I was referring to your last post, in which you initially claimed people who shave daily are just married women before editing to say (but that would be presumptuous to conclude).
But tbh, when you made the link with shaved pussy and prostitution / pornography, I couldn't help but get a mental image of a backwater church in the Bible belt, with a priest preaching doom and damnation to the sinners who shave their bush.

It has nothing to do with morality, just practice. Very few people would see the need to shave daily unless they were involved in something that required them to seem constantly be clean shaven, such as pornography.

As for hygiene, you'd probably be better served by, you know, showering.

Yes that's the edit I was referring to. I posted, then though 'oh damn, people might think I am being serious, despite the 'you could...' opening, and immediatly added the edit to clear that up. Then you posted. For which I don't blame you if you did so before reading the edit.
