Did I mention the bit where Hillary won the popular vote by at least 2 million?
Because I thought I mentioned that.
The Electoral College is the thing that's ignoring democracy...
Won by 1.3 mil
I've nothing more to add to that so I thought you might be cheered up with a picture of the USA with population measured in units of Canadas
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Or 2.1m. Either way, she got more votes :P

Clearly lay down and take it lest I get labeled as, god forbid, a whiner.

TBF has basically been saying the results shouldn't be acknowledged though, since he doesn't like Trump, which is whiny. Ignoring democracy because you don't like the results...  bit silly.

No, that's the system. The system is broken, therefore focus your efforts on changing the system, not saying the results should be ignored because the system is broken.

Had a dream last night which prompted the following realizations:
1. Where did all the water fountains go? The last time I can remember seeing them was in high school. Stores don't seem to have them. Haven't noticed them in hospitals. The college I attended for a year ~16 years ago didn't have any in our dorm either (but it did have soda vending machines! Also the cafeteria was only open for a small fraction of the day, three times a day).
2. I've never really thought about this before
3. Is it because free water isn't profitable, whereas bottled water, and soda, are ridiculously profitable?
4. There used to be water fountains, I remember reading that back in the Bad Old Days there were separate ones for "colored" people, and there were even pictures of side by side water fountains. This was pre-civil-rights-act etc etc, iirc.
5. Were they removed because racism (forced integration of fountains) or capitalism (for the profits) or FUD (bottled water companies scaring people about the safety of fountains and tap water)? Or all of the above?
6. Am I just not going places where they still exist, or looking hard enough?

Massachusetts, and the college I mentioned was in northern New York state. Not in a big city either, mind you. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I certainly don't usually have issues finding a water fountain when I need one. I suppose they aren't as common in newer buildings though.

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

I think it's the very simple reason that tap water in some areas isn't all that safe to drink.

I mean if tap water is safe to drink, wouldn't that mean water fountains won't be needed? I mean, that's the reason why we don't have water fountains over in Karlsruhe.

You can almost always find one near public bathrooms here in Ohio, though only the ones in public (as in government owned) buildings are really drinkable and I say that as someone who grew up on well water. By weight it's probably more iron than water 99% of the time at a business or at the park.

I mean if tap water is safe to drink, wouldn't that mean water fountains won't be needed? I mean, that's the reason why we don't have water fountains over in Karlsruhe.

It's the same water, the fountains are just so you can get a drink at a public place without having to carry some with you.

I avoid them like the plague ever since I saw someone urinate in one of them.

Did you know that the menu in your average restaurant can contain several hundreds of different traces of urine? Or the grip of a shopping cart in your average supermarket? At least the water fountains are rinsed whenever someone drinks from them  :D

I've heard of several incidents of customers urinating in the sinks where I used to work. Both mens and womens rooms

I had to go spray and clean them afterwards too.
