TFW all this fucking poetry stuff doesn't make a single piece of sense to me because Polish language is so snowflakey that we apparently don't obide by the same rules as everyone else.
That or English is the cucked language.

It's more like all the other languages are, really.

So I was serious about posting some polish poetry.  Im curious to see it.

What do you want to see though? Polish Poetry calling out Germans, Russians or the rest of world on being evil? Or maybe the famous prophecy about Slavic Pope?

You had to go to ten trochees to try to make that point. You might have a point if we were trying for something dumb like accentual-syllabic verse taken to an extreme (say, a tetrasyllabic octometer or such nonsense).

The original point I was trying to make was the impossibility of fitting the word "iambic pentameter" into iambic pentameter.
But I'll agree to being very rusty with my English lit. Shame I didn't have any half-competent poet or Shakespearean scholar to teach me.

Re: Poetry beyond the haiku.

One option is the ballad, also known as the common meter or the bardic meter. Four lines per stanza/verse, four iambs on first and third line, three on second and fourth; the first and third lines rhyme with each other, as do the second and fourth. For an example, a quote from a previous discussion on the matter:

To make the meter fluid dance,
'Tis easy it to see,
The words which best amuse and prance
In Bardic Meter be.

Ballads are also common in music: any song written in the meter can be sung to the melody of another. One trick to make sure your ballad fits the meter is to try to sing it to the melody of the Pokémon theme song.

As for unrhymed free-verse, that barely even counts as poetry, don't pay attention to it.

Woah woah woah. That's just like, your opinion, man. Modernist poetry includes some of my favourites.

Take T.S. Eliot, for instance.

There's far, far more to poetry than rhyme and fitting a specific metre. To ignore that is to wilfully blind yourself to a great many excellent worls.
