Sounds like a meditation thing.  I used to be able to do something similar with just silence, but familiar electronic music helps a lot.  Just kinda... switch into a different state of mind.  In my case usually a sort of problem-solving trance.

I guess it's sorta similar to a certain brownie thing, apparently, in that afterwards I feel giddy and have trouble conversating so good...  I just want to be silly and veg for a while.  Unsurprisingly people jump to a certain conclusion

But while it's active I can juggle a lot of things in my mind, and recognize the bits I'm looking for.  It's a good feeling both during and after...  Definitely my favorite state of mind, even with the dopey burned-out feeling after.
It's been harder to reach, recently, due to anxiety and stuff.  But it always comes back when I manage to relax.

...Pff, wow, I think most people do this with music or concentration!  I just like to think of it like a superpower or something   Or yeah, like a button within my mind.
