From where it comes our meme "it was inevitable"? I really don't get it. I say our meme because I'm under the impression it's something from these forums only. Or am I wrong?

It's from adventure mode.

When the new adventure mode conversations released, it was a nigh-constant response to everything you asked or mentioned to an NPC.

During one of the DF releases the reactions system was glitched, leading to the "small talk" of every event being "It was inevitable.", from founding cities to demon attacks.

They still say it when they have no opinion. Apparently, the people in Dwarf Fortress are super wyrd.

I am finding myself filled with dread no matter what I do.

I kickstarted Scion and was like "yeah! I'll start a game!"

And now I am like "OHH crud! it is going to suck! no one will join! everything will go wrong!"

When they weren't talking about the inevitability of stuff, they instead talked about how everything was terrifying. Dragon attacks the village? Terrifying. Goblin kidnaps a kid? Terrifying. Guy steals a cherry? It is terrifying.

To be honest, that cherry must have been really damn delicious.

Imagine how lucky one has to be in the world of DF to grow a cherry tree for years in such conditions that it would bear fruit, all without being killed by kobolds, goblins, boogeymen, carp, demons, and everything?

Only for some fuck to steal it? The worst crime imaginable.

And for heaven's sake, there's no way to play an entire symphony by ear.  Even if you had all the parts separated.

Not with that attitude, there isn't.

Today's WTF: Why offer free Wi-Fi when you're just going to block every damn thing? I half expect that running a Google search for the restaurant providing said Wi-Fi would also run into a block.

That's really the only part of the day that befuddled me. There was stupid crap to deal with all day, but I came in expecting that particular crap.
