They all got slower and more durable, and spent less time being active.  But they were always the social betters and always the wise old ones?

Vampire Rain is probably the only piece of fiction I can think of where the "Alpha Creature" is actually the weaker one.

So there are the Prime Vampires who basically rule over the normal Vampires. If they die the vampires they create die.

So you would think they are the more powerful vampires. NOPE! they are actually weaker and slower. The only advantage they have over their brethren is that they are more durable... well that and all vampires are subservient to the one who made them.

This is the only example of this I can think of. I mean MAYBE one where each generation is more powerful... but nothing of this type.
