Why is music so loud in my ears lately?  It's like, I'm wearing my headphones half off of my ears because it's somehow loud.

Might be a lower level of background noise. Ears are adaptable like that.

I've been really into the double Filet o Fish from McDonald's. I used to really hate them but lately that's all I've been wanting when I go on break. At least it's cheaper than what I used to get.
The normal filet of fish burgers are goddamn delicious, they were the main thing I missed about eating meat... until an excellent chain of vegetarian fast food restaurants created a vegetarian "phish" burger that tasted as good or better than the real thing. I cried tears of joy that day and have eaten many more since. ^-^

Played Xcom2 and had the most rotten luck ever.
And i'm not even talking about stuff like "Oh that 88% shot missed" i consider that to be completely normal in Xcom but...

I had a sniper on high ground behind high cover.
2 advent troopers fired at it.
One DESTROYED her cover while the other one simply killed her off with a critical hit (because now she was in the open without cover).
Ok i think. It had to be a fluke after all what are the chances of an enemy destroying cover with small arms fire right?

And the next mission this happened.

The car wasn't burning or anything. The game just said "Ok you rolled a natural 1. We will be taking this soldier now thank you very much."
So my cover can randomly fail and either disappear or in this case explode with twice the force of a grenade.
Well fuck you too game.

That is why I don't play Ironman.

That's probably exactly it.

Tried to find the double-boiler pan to melt some chocolate to make ice cream with. Never found it, and the two stores I went to on my regular shopping trip didn't have them.

All that effort could have been spent buying ice-cream

Isn't it simpler and easier and cheaper to just use two different sized pots? One with the water boiling in it with the other on top with chocolate.

Ye, just put the chocolate in a smaller pot then put that pot into another pot with boiling water. The chocolate will melt fine and there's no risk of anything burning.

... there's apparently been someone making updates to IVAN for a little over a year now, sporadically. Huh.
... Fucking sweet. I love IVAN.

Anyway yeah. If you have a big-ish steel bowl, just put that on top of a heated pot of water to melt your chocolate.

I lived with someone who tried to melt chocolate by microwaving it in plastic tupperware... don't do that.  Apparently her parents never explained the concept of "microwave safe" to her.

...Ew.  I've microwave-reheated things in tupperware, but apparently not long enough to be a problem.
Nowadays I intentionally don't have a microwave.  Too tempting.  I'd rather need to cook, because even if it's noodles, it's fun to experiment adding herbs and things.  Only takes like 20 minutes.

Anyway yeah. If you have a big-ish steel bowl, just put that on top of a heated pot of water to melt your chocolate.
Is the bowl touching the water?
I'm confused, this seems equivalent to putting the bowl directly on a coil at low heat.
I understand steaming with a sieve-bowl, but not this.

Is it the concept of a double-boiler(or it's equivalent mentioned) that you don't understand? I think the main reason for doing it is that the shape of the bowl and that it's heated by rising steam allows the entire bowl to heat evenly rather than just on the bottom, which in my experience causes only some of the chocolate to melt properly while the rest of it hardens and is nearly useless.

I did an image search and...  Yeah, I guess it's just more even.  Even an electric stove heats more at the center than the sides, particularly for large pots, so using steam as an intermediary helps I guess.
