Behold the one that caused me great rage upon finding it after the 9 copies my roommate abandoned (which I mentioned in another thread, I believe).

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I'm doing some late class registering, and half the classes that sound interesting are coming up as "Closed" (As in, the professor canceled it) or mysteriously can't be registered for. So, I search around, find both a class and a professor I'm interested in, and BOOM. Can't do it.

Why are you showing me classes that are literally impossible to get into, stupid college Internets.

Why.

It wouldn't be as bad if the rest of the classes didn't have teachers I don't want.

So, upon finishing Gyo, I have come to the realization that I can't really get into any good horror media. I had a suspicion after going "meh" at Paranormal Activity 2 (movie) and "that was okay" at The Enigma of Amigara Vault (short manga), but now I've confirmed it. I guess when something is marketed as horror, the limit for my willing suspension of disbelief plummets. I am (somewhat) immune to (some) horror (from a very limited sample)

What about Horror Games, like Silent Hill 2 or Fatal Frame?

It may be less a problem with you not being able to enjoy it and more with most modern "horror" either being monster scares, fake found footage, or gorn.

gorn.

That is a good term to describe "Hostel" I think. If it means what I think it means, which is porn + gore = gorn?

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

Or Amnesia, SCP: Containment Breach, etc...

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

Gorn = gratuitous gore. It isn't (or at least doesn't need to be) sexual.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

The point is that it's the entire focus of the work.  In the same way that the only appeal of porn is sex the only appeal of gorn is the gore, is the idea (no I am not intending to start an argument about whether the only appeal of porn is sex I am just explaining the terminology as I understand it).

The good stuff tends to have more than just sex but that's neither here nor there :P
