I'm in my second year of my fortress and still haven't gotten my dining hall filled yet when I finally got enough people with masonry  to have some work in the shops. When I designated chairs and tables I got a ton of messages saying there was an item blocking the site when I looked it was just rock from the mining which they never ever cared about being there before.

I also designated the stone to be dumped but they're just ignoring it.

I get that when I'm putting down alot of chairs and tables at once. It's because they have to move the rock, which ends up blocking someone else. Just wait until the rush dies down and un-suspend the ones that got cancelled.

Edit: Did you accidentially forbid the stone? Do you have a dumping site?

It may be more related to this:

I finally got enough people with masonry to have some work in the shops.

If this is happening at the same time as setting up tables, then the stones in question may be tasked to the masonry shops.  Or, for example, the stones could be tasked to rough stone walls elsewhere, or a variety of purposes.

One easy solution is still to just wait it out and let them finish, then unsuspend the affected ones.
