- In the southern hemisphere, the Sun and Moon rise in the west and set in the east.

- The pug breed of dog is, in fact, the oldest purebreed.

- Legally, Cuba shares a land boarder with Florida.

- The US Electoral College is entirely customary, much like the presidential cabinet, and has no constitutional authority.

- The name for Monday actually comes from the term "mourning", not originally because of the start of the work-week, but rather because that was the day upon which the celtic people, and later the roman empire, would traditionally start funeral rites.

- You can use a discharged AA battery as a magnetic compass by balancing it on the end, spinning it, and then suspending it on a string.

- The silvery material in CDs was often a thin layer of mercury. DVDs and most modern CDs use aluminum now.

- It is impossible for most human beings to touch left thumb to right pinky while touching left index to right ring finger, and so on to left pinky to right thumb. Only 20% can do it.

-The name for Monday, ACTUALLY, comes from the name of a recognized god in the period in which the Gregorian Calender was made, the Moon, like all the rest of the Gregorian days.

Why would you even climb down a ladder headfirst?
It's actually fairly difficult, since you have to use a whole other set of muscles. As to why... well, for a moment considering a situation where you can't swing around to proper position unlikely, you could simply want to see where the feck you are going - or, for example, have to reach for something at the lower end of a ladder. A dare is the most likely scenario though.
