Well, there isn't any point in going to the moon unless it's a colonisation effort. The first landing was pretty much a way to one-up the Soviets, and after they took samples and played golf there isn't much else that can't be done in regular orbit. I can see China or India or some other emerging power landing there, but only to plant their flag and show everyone else that they're to be taken seriously.

If we don't turn this around, America will be rendered vulnerable to both inner and outer pressures and likely crumble into, if we're lucky, a bunch of squabbling city states.

America has got some very tough times ahead. At some point in the next 20 - 30 years, Americans are all going to have to accept that their country will be neither the richest nor the most powerful nation on Earth. For those who don't know, the GOP candidate running in the 9th congressional district is a avid war reenactor, who has done reenactments of most of America's major wars. In some WWII reenactments, he played the German side, so photographs of him exist in Nazi uniform. A tabloid got ahold of one of those pictures and published it, causing a huge backlash against him.
