I had a moment like that when Glenn Beck negatively quoted someone saying Americans are easily manipulated.

Thankfully, at least in this case, it probably won't lead to victory.  But victory is really beside the point.  This kind of rabblerousing is turning out to be a fantastic fundraising tactic, or at least career-starting tactic, and while it may not work in the district of the campaign itself, it bleeds into the national media and helps charisma-deprived candidates elsewhere rally the same sort of voters without having to try very hard.  Time will tell.
Don't forget the other dozen or so similar cases this election cycle, many of whom ARE expected to win. >_<

Hmm... O'Donnell seems to have weird views on how democracy works too.  I mean... apparently, current politicians are bad for spending in order to try and stay in office.  It's a strange view that making people's lives better in order to try and get their votes is cheating.

dont you lean that at school?
the main think is that she is runing for some form of Government job, crazy!
but then you do have some odd voteing rules, in Maine and Vermont, allow incarcerated individuals to vote, in other ban anyone with a felony conviction from voting for life, even after the person has served the sentence.
do thay move to the above states to vote?

but then you dont vote for President no you vote for some who are  the authorized constitutional participants in a presidential election who vote as thay chose for anyone eligible to be President.

thank god for the UKs good old First past the post winner takes all

O'Donnell's arguments are basicly the same as school children use.
Loopholes in the other side's claims.

Ugh, American election campaigns...

Who you can blame are Dick Armey and Karl Rove, who essentially created the Tea Party, largely funded by coal and oil money.

Kindly prove this, please.
I'll give you a hint: "FreedomWorks".

An organization funded by coal and oil money needs public donations to get $200,000 dollars?

"Founded in 1984, FreedomWorks is headquartered in Washington, DC, and has hundreds of thousands of grassroots volunteers nationwide. The organization is chaired by former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey and the President is Matt Kibbe."

Its a twenty-six year old PAC created in the Reagan years to promote conservative economic policies. I suppose this makes them the spawn of the devil or something, but you wonder where they've been doing up until 2009. Shadowy recruiting of trustworthy agents, planting and organizing sleeper cells across the country until the moment when they can emerge as seemingly ordinary citizens?

Remember, if someone intelligent and informed still disagrees with you, they must be on the take.

Well, that was a fairly large strawman and misrep there.  I'll try to remain logical anyway.  In any case, I'd actually think much better of the Tea Party if every single one of them was on the take (I'd think they're pragmatic rather than unbelievably retarded).

Basically, the Tea Party is "astroturf" - a fake grassroots group.  The Koch brothers (of Koch industries) are mostly to thank for that.  Hey, don't take my word for it, just look at Freedomworks' list of funders.  The Charles G Koch foundation, the Claude R Lamb foundation and the David H. Koch foundation are all controlled by them, and they are responsible for the majority of FreedomWork's donations.

But yeah, who's to say a thinktank which gets almost all its money from a big oil company isn't independant?

Again, you beg the question that somehow this organization from 1984 is soley responsible for the Tea Party movement. Sure, a rich guy gave money to one fragment of it. NPR just got a million from George Soros. Are you going to claim Big Bird is a left-wing shill?

Nikov... do you actually read posts, or do you just randomly spout gibberish?

FreedomWorks and Tea Party are very closely linked, and the 2 Koch foundations and the Claude R Lamb foundation are definitely directed by the Koch brothers.

Not so much an insult, as just a comment on the post.  I can't really see what you're saying.

Riiiiight.... Back on topic you two.

I seriously cannot belive people can be this incredibly stupid in america. This, right here, is the fundamental flaw in democracy that makes it crumble and decay like every other government. This, right here, is the entire reason we have not yet reached mars. Stupid people who talk well make it into positions of power and fuck shit up, and then there's nothing we can do to remove them except hope that they don't get elected again.

Problem is, at some point their dicking about is bound to hit education, and when it does it has the dual effect of putting more stupid people out there to get sucked into powerful positions and voting for the same woman who thinks that the constitution doesn't want church and state separated. If we don't turn this around, America will be rendered vulnerable to both inner and outer pressures and likely crumble into, if we're lucky, a bunch of squabbling city states.

'Tis not a good era for the human mind.

EDIT: WORST. SLIP-UP. EVER.  :(
