Coffin removal and rebuilding deletes bones
« on: January 17, 2008, 07:42:00 pm »

When removing a built coffin with bones inside it, then rebuilding the very same coffin anywhere (I tracked the coffin carriers to make sure it was the same coffin) results in an empty coffin with any trace of the bones vanished.

Also, coffins don't show "contents" (although this might not be a bug, merely the way this is implemented - just noting).

Are the bones still listed as 'in use' on your stocks screen? This is troubling, as I've got a few temporary tombs I want to move, but I don't want to lose the remains...

Hire different movers.  These slackers are obviously unsuited for the job.

Are you sure the bones didn't just decay with time?

That's what you call recycling.  :D

No, no -- recycling would be a +Dwarf bone crossbow+, rather than bones simply vanishing.

Now, composting, maybe... though you gotta wonder at the mood of a farmer dwarf who uses the remains of his drinking buddies to fertilize the fields...

I almost see elves doing that kind of thing. XD
Damn ecofriendly tree huggers!  They'd find a way to use dead-of-old-age animals, I'm sure.
