Also, we're now back on the proper map, because I removed the Buildcraft TRANSPORT package specifically, and the bug is now definitely gone.
I'll put it back in once it's fixed officially (the fix in 2.1.1 was not this), but in the meantime, no pipes.
You can still use everything else from BC, though.
I guess pumps won't work either, unless maybe you stack the tanks directly on them (but then you can't get it out :V)

Unplayable lag -> probably the buildcraft bug that Jay fixed.

Due to user error the server will be down for a week.

For that week, we'll be reverting to my own computer, non-24/7 uptime, and the latest backup of the main world (which I don't think actually lost anything, but...).

Still on the dyndns hostname.
I'll try to keep the status on the first post updated like before.
EDIT: Hurrdurr, why didn't I think of that one before?
The old website is still around, so I just brought it and its fancy-damn script-to-get-the-online-status-dynamically back.
I also put the world maps back up there, and a new brief history of the world names.
I really should have done that one earlier, because most of the details are long gone, which is a shame.

Bump.  Server is still hosted on my home PC, but I've helped Spacetoad to find the problem with Buildcraft -- apparently it was actually a Notch-origin bug that only manifested in circumstances that were created by the mod -- much similar to the old bug with furnaces and redstone wiring.
The latter was fixed by an earlier Forge version (I hope :V) and the former is now fixed by the latest version of Forge, which technically isn't released yet, however...  New CA version, and pipes are back.  Unless we manage to replicate the bug again, at any rate.

I suppose I'll make a bin for Jaycraft and hop on sometime.

Re: Jaycraft Minecraft Server: Prepare for -NOT- 1.8!
« Reply #1310 on: September 08, 2011, 07:23:14 pm »

Another bump, to note that we will NOT be updating to 1.8 until ALL of the mods are updated.
Thus, I expect a somewhat lengthy wait while everything is sorted.
PhoenixTerrain is dead, and so will not make a return when we do update.
We will require a new map at that time, because IDs will need to be redistributed, the new content will be some 1000 blocks away from anything, and there will be horrible chunk seams between old/new.

To play on Jaycraft between the release of 1.8 and our own update, you will need to maintain a 1.7.3 JAR with the mods.
To do so, make sure you have the launcher with the update text display, as the old one will NOT allow you to play an outdated JAR.
I don't know how anyone would still have that fossil, but...

If you still want to play 1.8 too, you must have two copies of the JAR.
There are several ways to accomplish this:
1) Of course, simply backing up both sets of JARs and copying as needed.

2) You can use a batch file to temporarily change the game's 'installation' directory.
Copy your .minecraft folder twice, in two separate locations.  One for 1.8, one for Jaycraft.
Make two batch files in the directory containing your launcher.  One for 1.8, one for Jaycraft.
Code: [Select]
setlocal
set APPDATA=PATH/TO/DIRECTORY/CONTAINING/.minecraft
Minecraft.exe
endlocal
IMPORTANT: That, as it mentions, points to the directory CONTAINING .minecraft, not the .minecraft directory itself!
ASIDE: Note that that %APPDATA% variable also works for instantly getting to the location of the standard .minecraft directory.
Just type it into any explorer window address bar.

3) "Michael Joseph" (I think he's a goon, but I'm not sure) made a GUI for the above.
It creates named 'profiles', which are just containers for the .minecraft folder, as above.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2941534/Jaycraft/MinecraftProfileManager.zip

4) Minecraft Portable creates standalone copies of the .minecraft folder as well.
This one is either slightly more or slightly less convenient than the other options, depending on your mood.
It simply creates an "mcp_data" directory where it's located, which then contains the .minecraft folder, so you have to then have each copy of the executable separated by a folder as well, which makes for a somewhat unnecessarily large directory tree.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/37311-/ (Note that it says it's compatible with 1.7.3; that's a bit of a mislabel, as it, as well, is just a wrapper for the same basic idea above, and thus fully version-independent.)

Well, the downtime of the 24/7 server is over, so that means Jaycraft is now 24/7 again! If you can actually log on to Minecraft in this pre-1.8 rush, enjoy the server!

The server should be back up now.

Website is having issues loading.

And for some reason, the non-vanilla half/quarter blocks aren't showing up anywhere in my single player game...

11/1/11 - I think that number warrants updating the server, don't you think?

Updated the CA to 1.8.1.1.0.
Grab it while it's hot!  Server remains in the same location, proper website remains gone.

Ohai, Jaycraft. Good to see you aren't dead.

A) Technic Pack introduces a punchton of bugs that aren't worthwhile
B) Technic Pack fucks with the IDs
C) Technic Pack does not work in MP
