Not to mention it's cheaper, but it's got less RAM. The VPS site you linked, head, gives more HDD space than is really needed for a Minecraft server and not nearly enough RAM.

Uh, actually, it gives 1 GB + 2 GB of "burst RAM", whatever that is.
The game server currently reserves 1 GB of RAM, but it rarely actually needs that much.
Also considering that Linux overhead is lower then Windows, that should be just fine.

Course, if anybody else can find any other comparable hosts...  We're on the hunt :P

BIG BIG NEWS!
Semi-functional Nether!
All portals in go to one location, and all portals out go back to the normal spawn (so no distance-squeeze), but it works!
Also of note is that I can link virtually any number of worlds, both normal and nether (limited by HDD space) in the same manner!

EDIT: The red fog doesn't work, so large areas where you can see beyond the loaded chunks look strange, but it's neat.
EDIT2: Ghast projectiles are invisible.  Take a bow with you.
EDIT3: Oh, and you can't break blocks if you log out and then back in in an alternate world.  Log out in HUB.

That's cool jay! :D

Can't wait to test it. Can the worlds be customized by some biome mod? If so, when we have a mod like that, we could have some really weird worlds.

If said biome mod can be created using the Bukkit API, I would assume so.
I don't quite think they have the hooks in place for a fully-Bukkitized biome mod like that, but it should be possible once so, yes.

Double-post bump.  I am shortly DONE adding all of the previous maps to the multiverse.
Temp4 is now a permanent map, as technically all maps will be now.

This sounds like madness. I'm looking forward to it.

I can have my spawn tower back? This is good.

Christ I thought that evil was sealed away for all time.

 Does the Jaythrone still stand?

It does indeed.

Also, the portal hug hub is complete.

EDIT: Mob spawns disabled due to being the supposed cause of lag.
Kill any you see wandering around.
