If you let us use those two mods (in addition to bridge), I think you should add them to the server itself - that way everyone gets the new toys.

That's not how mods work.
The client code and the server code is entirely separate.
The server does not do anything with boats, or the client render code, so those two mods cannot be added to the server in the first place.
I would rather you not use the boat, because it makes it ludicrously easy to expand the map by a huge amount.

The bridge has not been made for the server, and as such cannot be added to the server.

Right, okay. No hoverboat mod, check. Bridge mod not yet server-side, gotcha. Minimap mod - YES! (Especially since I've tried to use MinecraftAM, it won't work, and I don't feel like figuring out why.)

I'm aware - I wanted to use McAM, but I couldn't get it to work. I've installed the prereqs and manually patched it (MC got stuck loading when autopatched with Painterly installed) but it just will not work. I keep getting a connection refused error, and I've added MinecraftAM.exe to my firewall exceptions list. I can't figure out why this is happening, but the other minimap mod will do for now.

Actually that minimap mod isn't useless. It actually works! Oh, and he added a config file to let you orient it with whatever direction you want to face up. Anyway, in a flat world, who's to say which direction is the correct orientation anyhow?

-So does McAM.  Point moot.
-He uses terrible documentation practices then.  That is noted nowhere.
-The sun rises in the East and sets in the West, as it does in reality.  The clouds move straight North, and there are holes in the redstone sprite in the North and West corners.

McAM remains the only way to see anything that is not at the top level of the map.

I tried Minecraft AM, and was sorely disappointed that not only was it not in real time (I had to pause and click back onto the map to get it to refresh), but it took about three minutes just to render the map.

What?

You were clearly zoomed way out.  Of course nothing can render a decently large map at such a quick rate.
If you're zoomed in far enough (which still displays more than SM), it refreshes automatically and quickly.

I agree that McAM > SimpleMap, but unless I can figure out how to get McAM working, I'll have to use SimpleMap.
